Sometimes when I come to open my boot it seems to part release (some movement, 1st stage opening) but will not open fully. I have to push down to fully close then re-attempt opening sequence before opening can be established. Any advice appreciated. NB I have cleaned and lubed the mechanism and nothing seems to be blocking it or stuck in it.

this happens to me once in awhile, but it is simply because i don't squeeze the switch hard enough.

Yes I think you're right, I've been experimenting with it today. I thought with it being electronic it would be either activated or not - nothing in-between, weird.
    Thanks Bisco

One thing to realise is that the latch release operates on a relay timer and the "latch open" is only about 2-3 seconds (even if you are squeezing the latch release button the entire time), so if you don't lift the tailgate as soon as you hear the initial release (which I think is what you referred to as "some movement, 1st stage opening") within that time it will re-latch in the semi open state. However, it should not be necessary to push down and fully close the hatch. You just need to release your squeeze on the release button (to reset the switch) and squeeze again, then lift immediately.

hope this helps (Hope That Helps).

    Hi Dolj,
I just tried your suggestion and I think you have nailed this one. The more I thought I had a problem the more precisely (and slowly) I was doing the opening which, of course, only aggravated the issue. Thanks for your great post.

You might want to consider switching off the boot light incase the hatch doesn't close fully one time and thus running your 12v flat.
