    Does completely disassembling and reassembling pocket watches with a butter knife and whatever's around that worked at 6-7 years old qualify me as a DIY-er? [grin}

    Well you would need more than a butter knife to do DIY on a Prius. You might want to consider getting a Mini VCI, that will enable you to diagnose the car when issues arise. That would be the first tool to get.

    Yes tks, I'm watching one of them as we write. And scanning da net for super duper cheap 7 inch tablet.

    In the mean time I already have an OBDII wireless adapter however I do not have an android device. I've iPhone and ipad, dang apple will not allow Bluetooth access unless it's to their toy or priority licensing, , nor android hook-ups, so yawl's favorite program 'Torque' ain't gonna worky for no dang apple device.

    I can read prius's OBD II codes and erase em, but there's no 'preferred' programming with usage on ipad and iPhone that I've found.

    I want to read and know exactly what each cell is at, and doing with the click of an icon.

    So far, after 10 days, all is good to great, that's why I bought a 201,000 mile car,, it's top shape, but.. Somebody "serviced" the battery, and I use the word "serviced" lightly because, obviously it was an idiot, a few bolts were left loose and a couple missing too. So,, when idiots touch machines,, you're almost guarantied there's trouble ahead. I need to monitor whatever the idiot touched.

    I should add, it could have been a Toyota dealer idiot too, it's a 1 owner car, and carfax retuns all maintenance records performed by dealer up too 200,000. I've seen many a dealer body and certain engine repairs that apparently must have been built with extra parts because, where average owner does not look, idiots leave nuts, bolts and miscellaneous parts out.

    regardless it may have been a fix-it guy too, who changed a few bad cells which would mean the battery is not in balance.

    The easiest way to monitor the battery is through the ECU, a program access in OBDII.

    this idiot could easily been a certified Toyota tech, did you check if the battery was a Toyota replacement or not?

    No need to rip apart the whole trunk and battery man, not as of yet. but maybe soon because, I discovered bolts when just pulling the liner to view it. And when it's that easy to find an idiots signature the odds are there's more missing parts on the other side of battery too.

    Oh yeah forgot, idiot also failed to properly connect the vent junction/connection, but that was a simple remedy.

    And I'll learn that later if there's something I can discover where removal of battery is required.. It ain't broke yet. and me no fixes junk till it is.

    Otherwise, there is no report on carfax of battery replacement, but after 10 years, and 200,000 well, odds are high it's been replaced er somtin.

    Well I would familiarize myself with the HV battery real quick. Sounds like there was an amateur that went in there to fix it at some point.

    Yup, however, "amateur"? LOL. apparently ya ain't met as many "certified" techs as I have.. there's two types, and odds are highest 'like' 70%+ odds, the 2nd type, fast but cut corners is who works on em. heck those odds are in every 'profession'
