Luck had nothing to do with it. The trooper was padding someone's pocket.

I guess the key word here is "most troopers" as opposed to "all troopers at all times". I have heard various theories (5-10 mpg above limit .. 10% above limit etc), but I also know a person who was pulled over for doing 57 in a 55 mph zone and given the full nine yards of tough love, which included a 20-minute humiliation therapy session and 163-clam donation to the court clerk.

my last ticket was for 10 mph over the limit, the officer said if I was only doing 9 over he wouldnt have pursued me. i was just going with the flow of traffic. Hell, semis were going faster but I was in an acura integra

My best tank is 534...had plenty of room at only 9.05 gallons to fill, but couldn't pass up the cheap gas near where I was...550 easily in the cards in the warm weather...even with 70-80% highway.

You might want to update your sig to point to the new top 20 thread Top 20 MPG | PriusChat you are still top on the list but the old thread's maintainer stopped posting so we had to move to a new thread.

    okey dokey.

It seems F8L ditched his Prius and got a Volt. He provided a lot of good info during his stay.

The old thread still contains the posting of the record run. At the pump the MPG calculated 114. Since I had not discovered or set up a way to calculate MPG above 99.9, that is all I claimed for the 'competition'. I have since become aware of a way to do that and be internally consistent using the car's own computer via the eco savings screen.

    For anyone interested:

P.S. Read the YouTube stuff to see how this short trip (but beginning and ending at the same location) returned 119 MPG.

My records are 97.9. 98.9. 99.9. Coming off the hill from Reno to Sacto holding 99.9 to my Garage has happened a couple of times

I watched the video, read this thread and the other and I still haven't figured out where you got the 114 from. Can you share the math in a more obvious fashion?

Delighted. The video shows a short run of 23.1 miles. On the settings screen, one can see that the price of gas is set at $3.20. I burned $.62 for that 23.1 miles. Divide 3.20 by .62 to arrive at 5.16. Multiply 23.1 by 5.16 to arrive at 119.16 MPG. This is a small size sample, so it will not be as accurate as a longer run. If you check your own mileage in this fashion on one of your trip meters, you will see that it works and is more accurate, the longer the run. So, the math is: divide the fuel cost set in the computer by the cost of fuel burned and multiply by the miles traveled to arrive at MPG.

The 114 MPG figure from the other thread is measured at the pump and is for the 500 mile run. At the time of the 500 mile run, I wasn't even aware that the eco savings screen existed. :) The math there is 501.1 miles traveled divided by gallons used (4.378 pictured in pump face) to arrive at 114.46 MPG.

Post #614 in that thread is on this page: Top 20 - MPG Record Holders | Page 31 | PriusChat
