I do the same commute with roughly the same traffic every workday. I live in Illinois, so my summer mileage is much better than my winter mileage. The past two summers, I'd get 15-17 miles on the electric charge, but this summer I can't seem to get past 13 miles. Is anyone else experiencing something similar, and if so, any ideas on what's causing this?

i think you lose about 10% initially, then the deterioration slows down. i think i'm down from a high of 16.5 or so to 14.5 -15.

No. You reboot to clear the history and change the displayed value to the factory default.

My 2012 will be 3 years old in about a month. The first two summers I saw my EV range (after many days of my normal commute) around 14 to 14.5 miles. Last year it was 13.something. So far this year I've seen a max of 12.8, but I suspect it will go up a few tenths over the next month.

Are you reporting estimated miles (on the display) or actual miles driven?

My median over 2.5 years is about 13 EV miles. It's been as low as 10 on cold winter months and as high as 20 when I drove EV downhill in the summer.

There is no way you can have identical variables even if your commute has been the same. I did experiments early on for my commute. Left the house roughly everyday at 5AM. Since traffic is minimal at that time anyway, the difference in traffic would be slim. I drove normally and made a mental note of where EV cuts out and switches to HV. I was surprised to find that there was about a 2 mile difference between where EV runs out. (11 to 13 EV miles) I initially attributed it to higher ambient temperature and/or a truck in front of me slowing me down and allowing me to draft. I only drove in the right lane to reduce speed as a variation. I experimented with slower speeds, more drafting, etc. In the end, I realized I was up to the noise of the experiment. 2 miles is how much EV will fluctuate for my morning commute due to variables out of my control.

In the afternoon? Forget about it. It's a 10-20 mile EV fluctuation. Tons of variable traffic and varying red light durations, temperatures, etc. I'd argue your commute is not the same as the last two summers.

My two year anniversary has came and went. Just today I did almost 16 miles total (back to the same spot, so no elevation change). And it was raining pretty hard and temps were in the 60's. Pretty sure I could do some 18 and 19 mile trips if all the conditions were right.

For me, the first year ranged from 13-14 estimated miles. Then it dropped around to 12 and this past couple weeks it has been around 13.3mi. As I understand it, the estimated miles are based on an average of how/where you drive. This would explain the increase from 12mi to 13mi over the last few months.

On a side note, have you changed your tires? I have Goodyear Assurance tires which are supposed to be okay on my MPG, but it has effectively reduced it by about 5mpg. That will definitely affect your EV miles.
