Yes - and the rear window wiper is angled in the camouflaged photos and straight in the rendering.

I vote the photos as fake: They show side view mirrors mounted on the front door. Spy shots from Thailand, SoCal both show side view mirror mounted near A pillar (not on door). (3rd gen side mirrors are on the door)

I think the renditions are pretty awful actually: The dual character lines on the rear doors are fairly hideous. I think it's a drawing project and fake specs.

Greencarreports said the newest spy shot taken by Carsdirect was spotted in LA area, near Toyota headquarters.

"He snapped a photo of what is pretty clearly the upcoming 2016 Toyota Prius hybrid on the road near the company's headquarters in Torrance."

The .tw site leak maybe earlier renderings.

Test mule shots should be closer to production, with 15" rims, rear mirror relocation, etc.

If the specs are accurate, it is incredible that PiP2 with over twice the EV range is lighter than a regular Gen3.

They said it is going to be double-wishbone, like one on Lexus CT and Toyota Altis. The design uses the same trailing arm mounts as current torsion beam but lacks middle section. Freed space in the middle used for battery pack

I think it's highly unlikely that the only option will be wireless charging.

Besides that, I think the renderings are just artist guesses, not real leaks. However, a few details might be right. The front though, is probably not one of them. I expect the front to be closer to the new Auris or Avensis.

i doubt a wireless charging option would preclude a plug, be tough when you're out and about.

Our government should contract with Toyota to safe-guard our nations secrets. Repeatedly, we find that security in America is not as good as a fish net. OTOH, Toyota has maintained every aspect of the G4 a closely held secret. No leaks, granted plenty of speculation, but we are seeing evidence of the fact that nothing is really known. I'm still of the opinion that some of the reported sighting are of the Hyundai. That would account for minor differences, for example in the mirror. I just have no idea which is which.

I submit that all of the speculation over the last 2 pages of this thread are nothing more than wishful thinking.

I do wonder, however, if all the mis-information is good for Toyota? Expectations are very high; the challenge will be to deliver a G4 that does not disappoint.

Or simply don't want the losses of the wireless charging.

I would tend to agree, something about the design looks lacking, the shadows and reflections are not natural either. Basic things like colour selection, surely there could be better suited colours to showcase this design. Overall one gets the feeling someone has put quite a lot of effort into producing these images but in the process, overlooked simple details here and there. It is possible G4 might look like this but I think these two designs cannot be the work of Toyota.

bisco, true'r words have not been spoken.

I am beginning to believe the G4 is a myth. Maybe the G4 is a Hyundai?;)

Keep your chin up there kiddo ;)

Check out the Hyundai 'Prius fighter' images in link below: No rear hatch glass wiper.

2017 hyundai hybrid images - Google Search

All the Thailand and the Cars Direct image shows a rear hatch wiper much like the one on 3rd gen Prius

2016 prius spied in thailand images - Google Search

Look at the shape of the side view mirror in Thailand compared to Cars Direct photo in Torrance -

Cars Direct spy car more heavily camouflaged, but they look same to me: side view mirror, hatch wiper, body shape. It's the 4th gen Prius in road testing.

If this really is the real thing, then it's a bit disappointing .
It has hardly changed in comparison with gen 3 !
It has still the weged shape they promised to get rid of .
I like my gen 3,but if I buy a new Prius then I want it to really look new too !
The turned up pictures just look like a new refresh of gen. 3 .
God only knows why they still keep on to the split rear window !?
NS4 proves there is no need for that !
It sure does not knock my socks off,but maybe it's just a fake !?

I agree with your comment, especially the quote above. - Hopefully, none of the test mule pictures seen are of the G4. And for crying out loud, why test in Thailand?

It would be interesting to know what went on inside the Prius Design Division. I'll accept what Toyota says ... that the new G4 is on the new TGNA platform. I'd suppose that much of the sheetmetal had to be re-designed. Does that mean the designers task was to configure an entirely new model, so that it would look like the last? And why the 6 month delay? I can understand the time it would take to re-tool, but the design would require, what an hour or so? LOL
And finally I keep asking .... is that more "sporty?" "More appealing to younger motorist?"

For all of the above reasons, I seriously doubt we have seen the G4 (in test garb). But regardless, I think Toyota has gotten themselves into a predicament: Highly anticipated; High expectation; delayed introduction reportedly to make the design more visually appealing, and a series of conflicting test mule pictures. I do know this: It is very difficult to be the leader and innovator.

The mule could just have some extra cladding to camoflage the exterior while they drive it around to test the engine, other internals, and do some data acquisition.
