2005 Prius AC blowing warm air

    I have an 05 prius that has been a great car 193,000 miles with no issues, until now. AC started blowing warm air so took it to mechanic who replaced the compressor. Blew cold for a day and started blowing warm again. Took it back to mechanic replaced the evaporator. Same thing blew cold for a day and then warm air next day. Mechanic told me to take it to Toyota to get it looked at and they said 3 way coolant valve so we replaced that and still blowing warm air. Took it back to Toyota for the second time and they said it was a bad compressor so we replaced that and still no cold air. No AC in Florida summer is getting old fast need to get this fixed.
    I read a couple threads about the Amplifier Module wondering if its that...
    Anyone had similar issue? Have any ideas?

    sounds like Toyota dealer owes you a refund for a compressor and/or a no charge diagnosis and repair.

    Don't go back to the original mechanic ever again. Go back to Toyota but don't waist time with the Service Writer. Talk directly with the VP, Mgr or what ever the title of the head person in charge of Service Dept is and stir the pot. Your are part of the Southeast Region and can escalate to them if not handled.

    1. The engine coolant valve has nothing to do with the cooling function of the cabin ventilation system. It potentially has an impact on the cabin heater core effectiveness, but you are not currently complaining about an ineffective cabin heater.
    2. Did you pay for the AC compressor to be replaced twice???
    3. If the system works OK for one day, and then stops working, that implies a leak in the system.
    4. Is it possible for you to find a more competent dealer service department to work on your car?

    1. See attached pic from toyota dealer
    2. Replaced 2nd time under warranty
    3. Checked for leak at expansion valve
    4. Could try Fort Myers Toyota...

    looks like it says you have a leaking evaporator and declined the work.

    Exactly. The OP says the the evaporator was replaced prior to the Toyota dealer visit, but that seems to be contradicted by the notes on the service invoice.

    2 things here. if the first shop guarantees its work, they should fix it n/c if the evaporator is leaking. also, any tech that isn't stupid puts dye in the system anytime they recharge it. if the system leaks down in 1 or 2 days, the leak is gonna be obvious.

    Evaporator is brand new. Replaced it.

    replaced it before or after the dealer recommended to replace it? the independent shop may have botched the job. if you pinch an o ring seal, it will leak down pretty quick.

    ask both shops if they had the common sense to use dye. if they did, look for green slime somewhere on the system. if they didn't, they're both idiots.
