Isn't that the pole with the lighted tip just scaled down? They used to put them on pickup trucks and semis.. LOL kinda gawdy looking on a prius but to each thier own..

Well.. maybe yea. But I'm not doing it so it looks cooler. Norwegian roads, parking facilities, ferrys and etc are all difficult to drive and park in with the Prius. I having a hard time judging the lenght of the car. Since the poles are electric they'll be hidden away until I activate them with a switch when I need them. That's my plan.

The poles are original Toyota Parts, avilable as extra on the Japanese version.

couple people here have them as bumper markers. the front end slants away so quickly its tough to judge how much room you have up front. a few have installed them on their front bumper

I've now installed the marker pole. It wasn't as hard as I'd imagined. Took me about 4 hours to do it. The user manual, even if in Japanese was easy to follow looking at the pictures. Though the wiring as described in the manual wasn't in my european prius I just pulled two new wires from the engine room into the coupé. Installed a original Auto Pole button below pointing down towards the floor under the EV button.

If you are interested in an detailed description of how I did all this just PM me. And I'll write one up.

Here are two pictures of the final result.

    My two next projects:
#1: Painting the black pole holder the same color as the car. I have an appointment on Thursday. I'll post pictures of the final result when done.

#2: Installing side mirrors with signal lights
#3: Modifying another pole to fit right side of the car (This is possible if I make own brakets to mount the pole under the bumber)
