I just refinished these rims. I took them apart and powder coated the centers. These were my favorite rims growing up and I finally got them an spent a lot of time refinishing them. I've got the Ecopia 422's on them. So far they haven't hurt my mileage 195/55/16

You say you did the refinishing yourself? Nice!! Look really clean. Any pictures of them apart and of what they looked like before? What was all involved to do such a process? I have been Plasti-Dipping my wheels, just curious of the options and costs.

I don't have any pictures of them apart. They are the VW Jetta rims from the early 2000's. BBS RXII. Someone previous to me had them powder coated blue and it was too bright, and the rims clear coat was flaking off and looked like crap. So I took them apart and sand blasted everything. I went to an industrial sized sand blast shop and did it myself. Probably took an hour and a half to blast the 4 faces and rims. Then I dropped the rim faces off at a powder coat shop, picked out a color that I thought would go with my car a future cars. Painted the rim with a hard base/clear paint and bolted them back together. The powder coating should be easy to maintain with no worrying about chips and peeling.

Cost, I think I got the rims off craigslist for $250-$300, sand blasting was $40ish, powder coating was $100-$125. Probably paid more than what wanted too but I love the BBS RXII. These rims always have issues unless they are refinished. I have seen people trying to sell these for $1200 refinished with tires. Not sure who would pay that much but I'm happy I have the rims want :)

I too love the BBS RXIIs. I've had them on a few of my cars in the past. They come with a polished lip from factory.

Any issues with the centre bore? They are 5x100 so no issue there and I think the offset is grand too.

just got these Motegi Traklites installed Monday. I like to see some sidewall, so I stuck with 16x7" with 215/55R16 Ecopias. I really was hoping the 225/50's would fit but oh well

225 are very wide! Any pics? I have 205/55/16s on mine and I felt that they were at the limit. They are mounted on the OE 16" rim though. Is it a 6.5" rim?

I think the touring rims are 6". 215's would look too wide on them. the 225's looked good on the 7" traklites, and might have worked if the traklites had a 50mm backspace.

this is why the 225's wouldn't work. bummer.

Thought this was funny. Been trying to sell my old rims off my Acura TL that I sold last year. 18's with 245/40/18 coopers. They fit in the rear of my prius fine with rolled fenders but didn't trust the fronts not to rub. A guy off craigslist shows up in a 3G Prius to buy them.

They fit and have an Acura TPMS sensor in them. Seems like it is possible to swap TMPS between makes.

My current setup. Think I need to lower the front more.

Still think I did best with the 17's vs the 18's,better MPG at least.

I haven't swapped the sensors into my traklites yet, and its been over 100 miles and 10 days but the tpms light still hasn't come on. Wth? I wonder if my stock wheels came from a newer car somehow, and mine doesn't really have tpms? not that I'd miss it.

On my subaru wheels that I bought used Prius TPMS sensors off ebay for were fine for two weeks, came on for 10 minutes, then good. Stayed on for a few days then have been off since. Tire shop thinks the sensor battery is going bad. Does your car have a tire reset button below the steering wheel?

drat and double drat!!! I took my oem wheels home the other day-- with the tpms sensors installed, but no tires. the sensors woke up and turned the damn tpms light on and now it won't go off. then tonight I hit a cloverleaf ramp at about 55mph and there's a dip in the ramp, made my LF tire rub somewhere in the fender. didn't see any damage, but it means I got to slow down a little. no fun.

Subaru WRX wheels. I want to lower the front more but have heard the front tire rub once or twice on a big dip in the road. My TPMS light has been on for 2 weeks now. The tire shop checked and all sensors are transmitting. It's a flashing then stays solid light. The TPMS button no longer resets it. Sensors are all used from another prius off ebay. Dealer said it would be like $130 to test the TPMS. Going to unplug the battery this week for another project and hope that resets the light. If not I'm putting tape over that light.

OMG this is class, anyone know where to get the little sticker on the back door or what it says? and the wheels are called? gen 3 is it? between 2010-2015 ?
any help would be great because i really didn't think it was possible that an older Prius could look this good!!
