I HIGHLY recommend using truecar..com to get the best possible price to show to any dealer. You have to make sure you select the model and options that you would like. You may have to print it out to show when you arrive at the dealer. Once I arrive at the dealer I never do any negotiating. The deal is already set before I get there.

I personally went for the Four over the Persona for the power driver seat, better sounding sound system, and cheaper (to buy snow tires and replacement tires for, and more resistant to pothole damage) 15" tires that get a couple MPG better in the real world.

I'm actually trying to convince my Parents to trade in one of thier suv's for a four right now for above reasons. They are getting older and could care less about rims and handling, they need the adjustable seats due to knee and hip issues, and the bigger the Nav screen the better for them. We shall see I guess, they seem interested.

My stock Four has the smaller 6.1 inch nav screen that the Persona has. You have to get the solar roof option to get the larger 7 inch nav.

So, truecar. This is the estimate:

    upload_2015-7-22_10-3-44.png

But, that price isn't the out the door price. That price is still higher than what I've got some dealers down to utilizing the 2000 Toyota rebate, and my $750 recent graduate rebate.

I've got a guy in Annapolis offering: 25,674 Out The Door

Theres a guy in Manassas offering: 25480.6 out the door for a sea glass with BEIGE interior - great price, HATE beige!!! I don't think he has any gray interiors in stock either.

If I did my calculations right, the original dealer we went to this weekend is offering: 26196.00 Out the Door - but I had to do calculations myself, and he didn't include my recent graduate rebate I don't think. I could probably go to him and say that this dude in Manassas is offering $25,480 out the door for a car, and what can he offer me?

I'm also waiting for Koons Tysons to get back to me, they seem to have a decent amount in stock.

and I know I'm cheap but it pains me to spend $25,000 on a car, but I know the prius will be worth it. I'm so used to driving used Honda civics and how cheap they are to maintain (well until they start falling apart like mine did over the past year. hahaa!)

I don't know if you want to wait until the 2016 is announced.

The dealers will have more pressure and motivated to clear their inventory of 2015 vehicles.

By that time, the manufacturer incentive "might" be higher and the dealer will discount the cars even more.

As for truecar, in my opinion, those prices were averaged at what paid during the year, it doesn't factor the fundamentals of today:

    1. Gas prices continue to lower make hybrids less attractive thereby Prius prices dropping.

    2. Iran nuclear deal which is flood the already saturated markets with their crude oil.

    3. End of 2015 clearance to make way for 2016 inventory.

    4. 2015 models are a year old now, they were introduced in 2014.

    5. With all the federal and state government incentives 3 years ago, tons and tons of electrical and hybrid cars are come off lease now flood the market with only 3 year old cars which creates competition for expensive new cars.

    6. Sales of hybrids has fallen and will continue to fall as gas prices continue to fall and used EV/hybrid cars come off lease.

    The list goes on...

I bet if you wait and look at trucar in a month, that price will go lower. The prices you are receiving from the dealer now will reflect that in the trucar in time.

    Just my opinion of course.

I am in the market for Prius as well, I am just wondering if and when Toyota will up the the inventive instead of the $2,000 cash back.

Hi SillyWabbit - thanks for the tips.

Unfortunately I am not able to wait any longer. I really need to make this purchase by the end of the month, or take a chance and risk losing the $2000 rebate and wait until after vacation August 10.

My car broke down on Friday night so I need something soon. Thankfully my inlaws are retired so we've always had the luxury of borrowing their civic hybrid during moments of broken down vehicles............next week I'm borrowing my dads car for the week, and then we're on vacation for the week.

So I would LOVE to take my time, and was Planning to take my time and wait a few months, but then this happened :( :( :( forcing the issue.
