    A little pricier up here:

    Rear Pad set: $99.69
    Shim Kit: $16.77

That was through a dealership, and not the nearby one, who's invariably 10% higher. Well except for Toyota 0W20, they're practically giving it away: $5.65 per liter.

I don't know the going rate for OEM pads now, I originally bought pads for my 2008 but those darn brakes never wear down. Since then I purchased the 2005 and decided it was time to use them up before I lose them with everything else in my garage

Called them back and asked he said that my Rotors are rotting and I need to replace those as well lol...
confirmed that the rear rotors and pads are $513.99. I am going to call another dealership and ask to see if their prices match.

can you get a picture? If your brakes weren't having an issue when you went in, it probably didn't have too much rust.

you can ask them to resurface it too, that would take all the surface rust off for a fraction of the cost of new

I'll snap a few pictures in a min when I go to the car. he said if they resurface the rotors they might make noises, to me they sound pretty desperate since he told me to come over now and he will get them installed for me lol

Has anyone worked on the rear brakes before? If they're not reassembled just right, the pads can end up getting applied unevenly, dragging, leaving a rusty, unused zone on rotor.

Careful/correct pad replacement and just scouring the rotors solved this issue for me. The rotors cleaned themselves, went from scored with rusty zones to like new, once new, properly seated pads were installed.

damn road salts can do some serious damage. It doesn't look like the braking surface has rust......

It'd be really interesting to see the inside face of rotor. If about 50% is rusty that's a sign of pad misalignment. Inside pad has a pin on back that SHOULD be locked between spokes on piston face. If it's shifted up onto spoke it'll look chewed up.

For pin alignment, You want to rotate piston (clockwise, as required) so that the pin will between the piston face spokes. Reassemble, then do multiple depressions of brake pedal, to seat everything. Then reconnect 12 volt (step one with Prius brakes is always disconnect battery). Then take for a short test drive. Then and only apply parking brake. Applying it sooner may cause piston to rotate, if the pin is not firmly seated against piston faces.

The measurement is WAYYYY off on the pads. Those are way thicker than 3mm.

What does your friend recommend with those rotors? Do all rotors turn out like that in MA?

That looks good, well uniform. Like pin misalignment not the issue. And yeah, with that amount of rotor corrosion and wear, replacement might be best.
