Camelback no longer has free shipping on HV Batteries

    Tried to buy online at the $2175 price + free shipping for our 2005 Prius and they called to say shipping was $600 to Utah.
    Falling back to doing a refurb pack as all the dealers in Utah charge full price >$3500 for a replacement installed (no battery only sales).
    Bummer.

    That's quite a haul from SLC to PHX especially with a red triangle that could go into limp mode.
    Research has commenced on the refurbs, Falcon, Dorman are top of the list right now. (Gen3 cells)

    You must have known/felt deep down inside, that they can not possibly ship the HV Battery for free?! It weighs close to 100 pounds. Imagine how much it would weight w/ all the packing materials!

    Clark Auto in SLC will put in a new cell (not refurbed) battery for $2700 tax & install included.
    Will let you know how that turns out. *

    Does Clark Auto purchase this battery from Toyota? If so, great, as the consensus around PRIUSchat is that a Toyota dealer is the ONLY source of new cell batteries.

    A quick look at Clark's website indicates a legitimate establishment, but I'd say care needs to be taken in determining what they mean by ''new cell" battery. If you could locate a dealer within a realistic driving range that will sell you the battery at a decent price, then perhaps Clark would do the install at a fair price assuming you're not DIY. Another alternative is to locate a salvage, late model, low-to-reasonable mileage gen3 battery and move the modules into your gen2 case. Clark may be willing to do this also. If Clark does in fact buy the battery from Toyota, disregard this entire spiel!

    Clark Auto have assured that the cells are new and not refurbed.
    I am going to discuss with them if it is a new Toyota pack or how they can have new cells.

    Might be getting new cells from a Chinese battery manufacturer - which is not the same as getting a new Toyota battery made by Primearth EV Energy Company in Japan.

    How many miles did you get on your original pack? You could realistically expect to get that many miles out of a NEW replacement HV Battery too. Should you decide to sell the Prius later, it would be worth more b/c of a Genuine NEW Toyota HV Battery vs rebuilt/remanufactured junk.

    If you don't have access to another working car, perhaps borrow a dear friends car or get a cheap rental for one day?
