In sympathy with you on certain styling problems. I have problems in my v every intersection I need to turn. I now take extra care to turn my head each way to see around the pillars. The windshield design in the v is just so much in the way, twice now I had people walking across the street I did not, and could not see. Not much I can do about my seating position, that roof pillar takes up a huge amount of coverage to the side, at the right angle, enough to completely obscure a cyclist.

That's why I snicker a bit when I hear about the various new tech safety features about side and blind spot views. I can't recall any vehicle I've ever owned whereby I turn to my left, and see a huge pillar, and little else. But it's the front windshield pillars in my v that I think are particularly dangerous. No fancy electronics or another camera/screen to distract are going to change that.

When changing lanes, you're suppose to both look over your shoulder and confirm that nothing is visible in the mirrors. When checking for pedestrians, it's not too much of a stretch turning the head to look and also confirming by leaving forward.

The only person in the world that the Gen 4 Prius has to impress is my significant other. Our lease is up next August.
We tried the Prius V, for her it really didn't sit right. Then, the Prius C was too freaking small for her. She ended up leasing a Camry Hybrid.
I showed her the spy shot and she LIKED it. She says the Prius finally has some style and flair. Now will it fit her? Will the interior meet her approval? And will it drive well? My fear is that it will not have the acceleration of the Camry Hybrid. Maybe it will be on par with the Camry.
She also likes my Gen II for hauling things. It's truly amazing what you can load in a Prius.

    Well I really hope you're wrong !
Just paint the c - pillar black for just no good reason?
I hope there is some see - through glass here to optimise the rear vision a bit !

With your post count I'd be stumped too. :)

All I can think of: with this new car, assuming it's the real McCoy, it ain't doing anything for me.

I just got through driving up to the corner in both Prius and our 10 yo Accord. Turns out the homeowner has a 3 or 4 ft fence in front yard up to the sidewalk and there is a lightpole at the corner which does much more to block the right view than does the Prius. So, I was wrong, the right view is not bad in the Prius. Leaning forward and looking hard is definitely needed at that corner.

So this is what we waited for so long !
I have to admit that I was expecting quite a bit more change in comparison with Gen 3,but I don't think it's ugly at all!
It looks way to similar to my Gen 3. and i like my car a lot! !
It looks more like a Facelift rather than a new model, but I have to see it in person to make my final judgement on that .
It hasn't knocked my socks off yet and my biggest worry is the interior .
    Especially the instruments !
While Gen 3 has a quite eye catching look inside, gen 4. at least according to the pictures we have seen so far looks rather boring!
They should at least have gone with the instruments of the Mirai which looks a bit more spectacular inside!
I hope the spy shots of the interior of gen 4. don't show the real thing !

Maybe to create the floating roof effect?

A little (lot) of "Shallow Hal" syndrome going on here. I like the style that has the lowest coefficient of drag.

You know, air drag goes with frontal area * coefficient of drag. I'm always amazed that so many people ignore the first parameter.

Well, -I- think the -correct- response to the photos is "interesting, we'll still have to wait until September 6 to actually -know- what it looks like".

As proven by Sergio, you can't really see the car well enough to tell -what- it REALLY looks like (as in, he thought there were two different blue ones in the photos).

I DO hope the posters had permission to post the photos! From the actual owners of the photos. If not Priuschat owner(s) could be seeing legal threats. I've seen that happen before.

As for -leaping- to conclusions "it's ugly" or "it's great", Shallow Hal indeed!

And please, this thread has begun to get nasty in places. Chill out, people! At least the one Paradox closed stayed civil.

    Could be worse...

If that's the plug-in already on display, I hope the official unveiling will have a special surprise (no need to bash my hopes, bisco, but it would be in Toyota's best interest to move PIP production forward since the Prius is already late anyway...Chevy will be nipping at their heels with the Volt 2 if Toyota manages to sell the PIP in 2016).

The chair was sort of a hologram, touch tracer for me in front of the blurry blue car and I honestly thought the headlight and grill were different. Won't put too much trust in what I see on screen anymore. I was off by a lot! :D.
