    I think we are headed in the right direction. I like the design so far but I wish it were more like one of the back to the future cars. image.jpg

    Right. Its just fuel. I'm sure glad Prius gets the mpg's that it does. Better than using TWO credit cards and cash to get a complete fill up. My neighbor's truck is a gasoline sponge. He told me that, I about had a heart attack. Good thing is my wife is a Cardic Nurse, no joke.

    And that was really a Mazda design. My daughter loved the Mazda version of the Probe. Very fast with the V6. But don't attempt to replace the timing belt. Not for the faint of heart.

    Excited for Gen4. That Taiwan site info turned out to be pretty accurate so far. Per their spec, Gen4 will be lighter and have more power.

    Power to weight ratio will be higher so, 0-60 could be in the 9 seconds.

    Lighter car will result in higher MPG so 61 could be possible, not only EPA rating but in the real-world.

    Also, Danny can sell C pillar matching color cover.

    At 60+ mpg and 30+ EV miles (for PiP), most of us should be able to forgive any exterior design issues.

    32.6 km/liter = 3.8*32.6km/(3.8*liter) = 123.8km/gallon = 123.8km*0.6miles/km / gallon=74.3 miles/gallon.
    40 km/liter = 91.2 miles/gallon.

    50 is even good enough. If 55 comes 100 % from city driving, then )-: Hopefully a lot will come from freeway driving.

    ECO grade= Li-ion + tires at 45 psi + $$ ?

    There has to be more than a 5 mpg gain for an li to be worth it for most people. Having the option, perhaps Toyota realizes it's not going to be a significant seller, but it adds to fleet mileage.

    The first and second phases of efficient cars is upon us, and I'm sure they're all working on the third phase. Prius has to be more than just mpg.

    I hope 30+ EV miles but I wouldn't get my hopes that high. The weight difference between the regular and plugin version isn't that much more.

    Gen3 Regular to Plugin weight difference: 122 lbs
    Gen4 Regular to Plugin weight difference: 154 lbs

    My guess is, they are able to reduce the weight of the pack by eliminating the metal cage for impact protection(?). Gen4 is longer, especially from rear wheel to the rear bumper. My hope is that will enable less weight per battery capacity by letting the chassis absorb the impact.

    It is interesting that the system power is 143-148hp. Could NiMh version be rated 143hp (55 MPG) while the Li-ion (PHV?) version at 148 hp (61 MPG)?

    5mpg gain will be no good in Europe where Diesels offer better value, performance and motorway mpgs. Toyota has reliability on their side but that is not going to be enough to sell in millions. PiP 2 is going to be a differentiator though if it can do 55+ mpg, that is the only hope I have left. And where does the so called 2017 PiP fit into all this?

    That's it, my brain was on fog last night. She wanted one, she is very artistic. The style was timeless.

    She has leased a New Corolla. It fits her well and it does have style. Plus, she got her payments where she wanted them.

    I still own my 88 Mazda MX-6 GT. 2.2l four-cylinder with turbo. Will still spin the tires in second gear, and I still get 32MPG winter and 37MPG summer, which isn't bad for a car rated 21/28.

    People tend to buy what they like not what get's them 0.0001 better MPG. We have Passat 1.6 TDI and I can assure you it can't get close to Prius MPG they are on pair at 130 kmh (around 5.4 l/100 km) but at everithing else Prius gets 1 l/100 km lower. But Passat is in every way more refined car with better inside materials.

    I wouldn't buy it just to gain 5-8mpg over my perfectly functional Gen 3. Just the tax and freight/PDI on the new car would buy me 5 yrs worth of gas.

    Coincidentally I was also there on vacation. Yup, it seems half of all Prius v sales go there to be cabs! Ironically, I didn't see any private Pri; just a lot of "normal" cars, bicycles, and a few "regular" pickups. It seems Mendel is the only private Prius owner there!!!! ;) Oh, and nearby Richmond had a ton of exotic supercars driven by very young Chinese.

    I will even mention that if Toyota would build a diesel hybrid, what a vehicle that would be. There was an Indian company that built a small displacement diesel motorcycle. They built in for the small time farmers to"haul goods to market". What? If I remember right, it got 125 km per liter. That is very high.

    I would love to see a diesel hybrid Toyota. They have the ability, and in some parts of the world, the diesel Hi-Lux pickup sell very well indeed. It would need just enough diesel to keep the battery charged up. That would be like an extend range electric vehicle with diesel back up power (generator/ICE). Hmm, I think it would sell.

    Not really. Their gas engines are approaching parity with diesel engines. Look at the chart at 12:30.
