    Sad, but true.

We'll have so many misleading & false claims to deal with due to whatever the heck they write, the scope of the damage could take a long time to see.

This is when & how some of the new misconceptions will begin.

With gen-4 specifically, it could get really ugly... since it's the one that reaches out to an audience well beyond that of the past. We'll encounter people that simply want reliable & affordable transportation that will purchase this one, not caring about the tech, since it is already so well proven.

As luck would have it I ended up buying new tires for our Gen II today. I would have delayed doing that for a few more months if the car had a full size spare. Still I"m okay with a donut.

Saturday night when leaving church a friend pointed out that the right rear tire was low on air. I took a look and said, "It may have something to do with that nail sticking out of the tire!" So we drove home on the low tire, filled the tire, parked it in the garage and drove the 4Runner (sucks gas like crazy) for the next two days until America's Tire would be open today (Tuesday).

America's Tire said the tire was not repairable due to where the nail had entered the tire. They didn't have a matching tire. In fact it turned out they didn't have a single tire on the premises that would fit my car! They could have a tire for me in 3 or 4 days. I guess I could have waited but that would have meant having only one car and driving the 4Runner everywhere.

I drove over to CostCo to see if they could help. CostCo also agreed the tire was not repairable. They had tires that would fit but because the speed grade was not a match they couldn't sell me that tire. I suggested putting on two new rear tires. The guy was uncomfortable with that too (I know and trust this guy). Knowing I'd likely have to replace all 4 tires by the end of the year I opted to put 4 new tires on the car.

The point is I really want to have a spare in the car. Had we been 50 miles away that tire could have gone flat. I would, at that point, have put the donut on and been on my way. Without at least a donut we would have been delayed on the road for one to two hours waiting for a tow truck and getting towed home, and then perhaps would end up with a towing charge. There would be no chance for a national chain tire shop to be open on Sunday or Monday this week, it being Labor Day.

As much as I'd like to have a new Prius I am also not opposed to getting something different after 7 years with the Gen II. It's a great car no doubt. But a small SUV like a CR-V or Rav4 sounds appealing. If the Gen IV doesn't have at least a donut I will not buy one. At this point that is the one killer for me (assuming the flying buttress is gone).

I am anxious to watch the streaming video tonight. I hope details are revealed.

Very nice. I don't like red, but one in that Mirai blue wouldn't be bad.

great pics, thanks! i like the front from the front! at least it's not the cow pusher. and the back is growing on me.

seats look terrific! is that a basketball return on the steering wheel?

maybe they make some options for the console with different colors and cutouts. the white is pretty bad.

What's with the weird shape ugly Apple-white center console? That ugly white color like an iPhone is the only thing on the car that I really recoil against so far.

Strange, strange dash: scythe-like sculpture running across the right side, for what?

Looks like no upper glove box. And the obligatory infotainment screen looks kinda like Darth Vader.

Display shows 59 mpg! Can't see them overselling this, so hopefully EPA is at least this.

    Love. It.

I'm going to take a nap. 3 hours until I get to crawl around in this bad boy.

Careful. This is the Euro-spec car.

This thread with the photos came up on PriusChat earlier today, but we grabbed it and took it down at Toyota's request due to embargo. Since even CNN has broken embargo now, I've put the thread back up.
