I think they did a great job, but no matter how good they do, some will always demand more and want more info, whether it's available or not. :)

I think they did a fabulous job. Let's face it...most of us here are 'enthusiasts'...and typically, enthusiasts can be hard to please sometimes! :D

Close, but not my definition of "flat." Looks about the same as the Gen III, with a slight rise.

I don't know if it just me,but their seems to be a design flaw with the dashboard.
I really hope I am wrong, but only people who have been in that car can answer the question.
The air vents in the middle seem to be placed a bit to high .
Children or even interested grown ups in the back seat love to watch what happens in the display, but by looking at the pictures,it seems that the air vents partially cover up the display !
Maybe even small drivers want be able to see it properly !?
Please tell me I'm wrong about that !
I know they are not production cars yet,but probably it's too late for toyota to correct it .

^ I didn't find the vents covered the display or were too high.

I didn't have fancy DLR setup's like the other Experts, so excuse image crappiness, but here are three shots I took from the back seat of the dash.

Can you change the background colour of the display ?
It seems red on these shots .
I have only seen pictures with blue background colour up to now .

    About the cargo area:
The floor is at two different heights depending on the model. There was nothing confirmed, but I think one of the Toyota reps said that the Lion battery pack has the lower floor while the NiMh model has the floor that's flush with the folded back seats. My source told me that there were discussions as to whether people would want the extra cubic space or the flush floor and it was decided to lower the floor if space allowed.

    About the spare tire:
Same thing: it depends on the model. The model with the lower floor - which I'm pretty sure was the Lion - did not have a spare. It only had a repair kit. However, the car with the flush cargo floor did have a donut spare.

    About the under-cargo tray:
There was no tray anywhere on any car that I saw. I looked specifically for that. I love my tray in my Gen2. I'm sad to see it go. In it's place is a crap ton of Styrofoam for sound deadening.

I hope that clarified a few things though I have no doubt that - like a Hydra - multiple new questions have just been generated.

Color changes with driving mode (like Lexus). Blue is Normal, red is Power mode. Not sure about Eco.

As Danny mentioned the background color changes based on mode, I think ECO was green. The digits did not italicize for power which could have been a coll touch as well.

    What about rear headroom ?
Has Toyota managed to keep it the same or even better than Gen. 3 ?
If better I would be really surprised !

Is there a power mode? Or maybe you mean the 'power' section of the HSI?

Somehow it's better. The top of my perfectly coiffed hair touches in my PiP, but not in the 4th Gen.

There is a power mode. 3 driving modes, just like in the 3rd Gen, but now there is only one "Driving Mode" button instead of separate Eco and Power mode buttons. The single Driving Mode button cycles through them.

Rear headroom was fine for myself and Tideland Prius on here. I'm 5'10" and he's got to be 6' but let him chime in. They indented the roofliner for the rear outward passengers to add a bit more room.

    Thank you !
    That's great news !
I didn't expect that considering the new roofline! .

Tideland was impressed with rear headroom. I have exact seat-to-ceiling measurements at home. He was very pleased though.

You did not own a Gen 1 obviously. I demo of what it took to put my bike in the Gen 1 trunk is a demo of taking a bike apart. This Gen has a lot more room than equivalent cars still.

There's slightly more rear headroom and quite a bit more front headroom.
