Doesn't look like the wireless charging comes with the black coloured centre console. Just charge with USB port, easy enough.

    SM-G900I ?

    Good idea: See toyota.jp/pages/contents/prius/003_p_007/pdf/spec/prius_spec_201506.pdf
(throw link into google translate if necessary)

Weight for gen3 in Japan is 1310, 1350, 1380 and 1400 kg! So either the numbers we know for gen4 are not correct or there may be no weight reduction.

    In Japan, Gen3 S grade 2WD is 1350kg.
    Gen4 S grade 2WD is 1360kg.
So, the Gen4 is +10kg more.

Wait, just to be clear, the GenIV Prius has less less ICE power, less battery power, less total system power AND it weighs more than GenIII?? Am I reading this right?

You forgot to read the part about getting better mileage too, which is really the raison d'etre for the Prius.

Just because there was an improvement in most-if-not-all attributes from Gen 1 -> Gen 2 -> Gen 3, doesn't mean this could have gone on forever. At some point limits in current technology (and/or economics) would bring about a point of diminishing returns, which would only allow significant increases in one critical attribute by sacrificing another, less-critical attribute (for the given concept).

I do suspect that the 4th gen will be a *little* faster than the 3rd gen in a straight line, and will behave competently (if not excitingly) through the bumpy esses (few Toyota FWDers have behaved excitingly through the esses, much less one wearing LRR tires).

I suspect in their overall plan, other TNGA vehicles will try to strike a different attribute point-of-balance (more power and less fuel economy, perhaps) than that of the Prius.

Prius is not designed for a high performance vehicle, but is designed for a state of art high fuel economy vehicle.

Well Toyota never said very much about gen. 4 Prius before reveal, but what they allways said was that the new Prius would be lighter, more powerful and more fun to drive !
I don't believe that manual, the images in it may be correct but never ever the stated values !
Toyota knew this manual wouldn't remain secret and has deliberately manipulated the values so they can have an even bigger "wow moment" when they finally lay their cards on the table !

I'm not sure whether following information has been discussed before or not...
    But...

The 12V aux battery is now under the front hood instead of rear trunk space.

So how exactly it is 20% lighter? 1360kg=2,998lbs, and Gen3 was 3062lbs. Add US bumpers, additional mandatory equipment and it will be same weight or more. Sportier ride too with less ICE/HSD output.

so, after reading all thread, summary:

    Weight = unchanged
ICE output = reduced by 3kWt
EV output = reduced by 7kWt
    ICE efficiency = improved by 4% (38.5 to 40%)
    EV battery = reduced by ~1/3 (27 to 20kWh)
reduced friction it HSD, perhaps improved EV efficiency.
    Rigidity improved by 60%
    Improved aerodynamics = no info
ECO version = Japanese market stunt only to get into more favorable JC08 test category.
4WD options for 2 trim levels
LiION and NiMh batteries, depending on trim.
    improved vision over hood
    lower center of gravity
improved head clearance in the rear
No definitive info on rear suspension: torsion beam or double wishbone? perhaps both depending on trim?
Better packaging: 12v battery moved forward, traction battery 100% under the rear seat
    Debatable changes in styling.
Some Gen3 gizmos go away as cost cutting measure.

MPG predictions: 5-6% MPG improvement on EPA cycle. Combined rating 52-53 MPG
Reduced acceleration on 0-60 test due to increased weight and reduced output.
Improved handling due to lower CG and rigidity.

I hope you are right, but from what I see one thing comes to mind: Toyota over-promised and under-delivered. Prius team was given unrealistic task of getting the pig fly: improving car, while switching to TNGA platform. As a result they failed to deliver, and it took them longer.

BTW all Toyota said was that TNGA is 20% lighter, not that the car built on platform will be 20% lighter. Similarly when Mazda3 went to 15% lighter SkyActiv platform, the actual weight didn't change. Car got bigger and stiffer, but curb weight did not change much.

Toyota always said the new Prius would be lighter, have more power and will be more fun to drive !
What the manual states just doesn't make any sense in many ways and I want to make clear that it's not Ken I am not trusting!
It's the manual that just doesn't add up to the what Toyota said before revealing the new Prius .

That is not correct, current battery as far as I know can deliver 26 kW (power) and has 1.3 kWh (capacity), but as sugested earlier it never delivered 26 kW of power, I hope that power reduction is on paper only and that it keeps it also in real life. There is and was no point in overstating system power, particulary here in EU where taxes or insurances likes this data to take more of your money.

If I remember well Toyota never promised more power, just 'more fun to drive'. Maybe the nav now also tell jokes :)
