I'm finding the Gen 4 interior styling difficult to understand. But the Gen3 the Gen4 exteriors both seem to be a shell used to cover some amazing engineering. The Prius remains a response to technical challenges more than esthetic desires.

This is a very bad comparison!
Maybe there is some match for the sidelines. But you totally overlooked the upward line under the butt, which is really distinctive in comparison to the Gen 3. Maybe better look around for different types of butts, perhaps of the afro-american type?

P.S. Did you already make an appointment with your therapist to see how you can handle your obsession for butts?

I already had problems with splash guard on 2010 getting pulled out by deep snow bumps so it's hard to imagine driving anything more close to the road. Plus , here in the Northeast we have plenty of lumpy and bumpy roads...

Haven't looked yet., of course there is nothing to look at yet. How is the mileage? I looked at the Subatu hybrid at the auto show, nice but mileage on the SUVs isn't so hot.
    Thanks

Yes Crosstrek hybrid MPG is disappointment.

With RAV4 the official numbers are not out yet, so we don't know, but if the improvements are similar to Highlander, we could expect it go up by 1/3. This may put it at 36MPG combined, which seems to be too high to be realistic?

I think there were about 4 people that ORIGINALLY found the Pontiac Aztek attractive. And they all had pop bottle glass's and eye stigma's. No offense to anybody with thick glasses and a stigma.

No any popularity that the Pontiac Aztek has been able to garner is nearly all a result of being the vehicle of choice for Walter White in the series "Breaking Bad".
Which is interesting to me, because a vehicle can go from being a shunned monstrosity and accepted populace failure of design...to being considered desirable and even retrospectively "cool", if it just get's routinely associated with something people enjoy....such as the series "Breaking Bad".

But my pure opinion and speculative guess is that IF the Pontiac Aztek hadn't been prominently featured in that popular series? It would ONLY be remembered as one of the most ugly vehicles ever released.

No knocking on Aztec.. when it came out I didn't think it was an ugly.. just a car trying to get noticed. I thought that some of the features like tailgate tent and stove away seats were cool, but who will buy a pretend SUV? (note to mention that I wouldn't buy real one either. Minivan got me through worse of the snowstorms w/o need to get out and put chains on). Turned out "there is a sucker born every minute". IMHO what killed Aztec is the angular grill, which they had to make as homage to Aztecs. If it had more round Buick Verano shape it might have floated.

But looking at Gen4 I am just shaking my head. It looks like it may have been a clean egg-shaped design, similar to pre-2015 Prius C, but then when it got turned back they "edged" it up.

I am of the "substance over form" kind of guy, car should be practical first, but honestly not sure I will be able to live with so much "bussai" every day. If 680A plug-in is what Gen4 meant to be with more rounded shape and normal tail lights, I will be buying one instead. Not that it would ever plug it, unless it is free; with our electricity rates it doesn't make sense, break even point is ~$3.80

Considering the Lexus NX rating of 33mpg and the price difference, the Crosstrek hybrid numbers no longer look as bad as on first release.

36mpg seems too high. The Rav4 should be lighter than the NX. So it should be better, but I don't it getting enough tweaks to get to 36mpg from the NX's 33mpg. My concern with the Rav4 hybrid is that Toyota will overprice it like has happened with the HiHy.

If it had been boxy instead of kammback, it would have been the Honda Element.
The grill was fine of the concept, it is what they did to everything after that for the production version.

I'm not saying the Aztec is a bad car.
And I kinda hate myself for not liking it, as I usually do champion function over form, and like cars designed towards being versatile and utilitarian. To the comment above? I do like the Honda Element. But as far as looks? I don't see too many similarities.

But The Aztec?...that's an ugly car.

I don't care that it's not beautiful. I should make that distinction.

But it looks like it wasn't ever really completed. Like it was designed and blue-printed by a group of designers that weren't actually sober, and did it in one night of intoxicated revelry.

I probably could own one and enjoy it. BUT....I wouldn't ever pretend to say I thought it was beautiful or good looking. However, I can appreciate the beauty in something that isn't the accepted standard.

    Thanks for your empathy!
Life is not always easy in this world when you are not a native speaker of the English language, but I am trying... Especially, to express irony in a different language, and more in particular in a different culture is a real challenge. They sometimes say computers are bad in detecting irony and sarcasm, in comparison to humans, but also the human skills to do so may very much depend on their cultural context.

no problem. If you wanna learn of American humor/sarcasm go on YouTube and watch Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, etc. Americans for most part stay away from racial jokes, and given the history of Dutch involvement in slave trade, I'd avoid this altogether. It puts you in the same category as German making Jewish jokes.

    Interior issue>>>

We have one of the first Gen 3s - s/n 1600. First hybrid, wanted the latest tech and liked the styling even tho the Prius interior was bland.

Spiffed it up a bit with woodgrain and other touches which helped...

Interested in the Gen 4 even tho our 3 is running perfect with 65K miles...new car itch y'know.
Getting accustomed to the IV exterior and tend to really like the side styling, front a bit too angular but OK, back less than OK.
The general interior looks to be very very nice, except for lacking storage etc - BUT (butt) that DarthV center stack -in photos- is SO out of place styling-wise. May not be able to get over looking at that thing every drive. Why Designers didn't round the top/vent area to mirror the front instrument shroud is beyond me. Just seems so out of place there. I mean it's like you're ready to give the ring to this nice-looking gal, but....that honker nose she has with that wart...
    upload_2015-10-18_8-42-56.jpeg

Time will tell, and will certainly await an in-person in-depth look and drive when released for sale ...but...that damn ugly wart....
And while I'm at it - WHY the shiny piano black finish there too? prints and glare issue...

Yes, I was aware that with that part I was on (and maybe crossing) the border of a dangerous area, and that many (but not all) in the US are in a sense ahead of us in Europe concerning political correctness, certainly if it concerns race aspects. For me many years being in intense personal contact (in a quite positive manner) with what you might call afro-europeans (but who actually are born Africans migrated to Europe), probably may make that I am a bit less careful in this respect. It is clear for everybody knowing me that I will not be negative concerning Africans (and indeed, I was not negative in my post).
