The Pontiac dealer didn't have to sabotage the van, it's a Pontiac.

Sorry, but the 1970 GTO and our 1988 Grand Prix were both excellent cars that gave us many years of trouble-free service, 17 years for the Prix. I drove both pretty hard, especially the GTO, but I won't go into that here, never should have sold it. The Prix was the most comfortable car I've ever driven, but that's always subjective. The 1999 Montana was also trouble-free after the engine was replaced and the warranty problem was mostly my fault, though GM should have played fair with a customer who had always bought GM until then. Sorry if your experience was different, it happens.

My 1975 LeMans started with a paint problem. Car only lasted 135000 miles. That was the reason Pontiac came off the Next Car List. Glad to hear you had better experiences.

I took Oldsmobile off my list after we bought a 1974 Vista Cruiser with a 455 where the starter was too close to the exhaust manifold and caused continuous problems until I eventually covered the starter with a heat-resistant material and installed a thicker heat-shield. Then I took Chevrolet off the list after a horrible experience with the 1985 Celebrity Euro Sport. That was my first experience with a V6 and while the engine itself was okay, IMHO the mid-70s to mid-80s were just terrible cars, at least from GM. I took a chance on the '88 Grand Prix, mostly because that's what Rusty Wallace drove on the NASCAR circuit at the time :), and was very pleasantly surprised. The '99 Montana experience turned me sour on GM, probably for good, and the '05 Dakota hasn't endeared me to Dodge, mostly because of the lousy mileage for such a small truck, though it is a quad-cab. Considered a C-Max, but can't bring myself to buy another Ford, owned a used '63 Galaxie before the GTO. I'm fairly sure the Prius will outlast all, unless we trade to keep up with technology. Will be checking out the 2017's, but not as enthused as I was before the 2016 was debuted.
