    FYI:

The Nav SW version which was installed sometime in 2014 on my 2012 Prius v ATP is V6673500. I thought there was a new version out which corrects the problem with the short turn warning time that was introduced in the last update, but I was wrong.

I called Toyota to report this as a safety issue and the helpful person on the line researched it and said there is an update coming out at the end of the year. She did not know if it addresses this specific issue but she did report my concerns to the technical folks.

Just went out to check Program Version for the Denso Nav in my 2012 Prius v with Adv. Tech. Pkg, and it showed v6673120.

I have only been getting (Entune?) updates over the air. Did you get a special USB Nav update in 2014?

No problems with late turn directions to report here.

They updated it when they updated my maps in 2014 but I didn't get the update drive. You must have the version before my update shortened the turn warning. I don't remember any improvements so you should just hold on until we see whether the new version works properly.

Chaz, what version of etune do you have? Are the entune versions different between the Prius v with atp and no atp? Thx, Ben

The Entune in the ATP "Premium HDD Navigation with Entune and JBL" is different. All Entune updates to our 2012 Prius v ATP Entune have been over the air including the one earlier this year that added an additional app screen with Slacker Radio and changed Bing search to Destination search.

Chaz, I haven't updated my entune since I bought the car in 2012. Will there be any problem updating an old version to the latest version without doing incremental updates? Also, can you give me a link for the latest update? . Thx, Ben

Is that the link for the atp package. I didn't think the atp's had a number 5.1 for their update version. I thought that was for the non atp units . Please verify. Thx

Chaz, figured out what you meant about over the air for the entune update. I must have had a brain fart. What I did yesterday was load the latest version of entune on my phone , then went in my car and connected entune on the phone to the car, I then went into apps and it said new updates ready to install. I said ok and it started diwloading all the latest updates for all my apps. It did take about 10 min. or so and died 3 times during the download. I would just restart and it would start again where it left off. Thx for the help. PS: I now have version 1.4.......

I just called Toyota and was told there was indeed a nav update released at the end of the year. However, she was not as helpful as the last person, and could not tell me the version number or whether it addresses the problem I originally reported. She even said I would be charged for the update and should take it up with the dealer. I'll bring in my car for a regular service soon and report back what they say.

There is the firmware/software and there is the data maps. Two different things. Firmware is a free update if you complain of a dangerous lack of warning. At least it was for me. Maps are $$$$$ rediculous.

From my experience, the version numbers of navigation updates have been the last two digits of the calendar year (e.g. "15" or 15.1"). Updates become available around November each year. The part number of a navigation update has the update year as a suffix whether it is a DVD or an activation card, e.g. 86271-HDD07-15

A navigation update may include software updates as well as map updates. When the 2015 update was loading on our 2014 Sienna a few weeks ago, something like "software update in progress" was displayed on the screen during a portion of the time that the update took.

We have not yet updated the HDD navigation system in our 2012 Prius v due to using other vehicles for out of town travel and when my wife and I go someplace locally together. I will have it updated ASAP if my wife retires in a few months and starts driving the Prius more.

Continuing this long, frustrating saga, I brought my car in a couple of days ago to get the update. Good news: no charge. Bad news: When I got home, I discovered that it had the same old version (V6673500). I just got off the phone with the service advisor who could not explain this since his documentation indicated a version was released in December but did not indicate the version number.

Has anyone gotten their nav software updated this year for the 2012 ATP? Or does anyone know the new version number?

The service advisor is looking into this on Monday and I tentatively have an appointment to try again on Thursday, 2/4.

Argh! Another long morning at the dealer with nothing to show for it. The advisor did not follow through on Monday as promised and tried to tell me that the latest version was an older one than I have (V6673170, I think). Once I finally convinced him that there must be a newer version, they finally found it (V6674100).

However, they then said the software update could not be applied without the map update released in 2015, which would cost $269. No way I'm paying that much money for an update that I barely need. I suppose it's possible that the update is tied to the map data in some way but, given the dealer's general incompetence, it is just as possible that is not true.

So I'm back to ground zero. I'll contact Toyota corporate to try to verify what the dealer is telling me, and also to complain about the ridiculous was I was treated. In the meantime, has anyone had V6674100 installed and, if so, did you need to buy the map update to do it?

    Thanks!

Dave, I am also looking at updating my nav maps sometime down the road. I'll be watching to see your reply from corporate. One thing you can do for free, is update all your entune apps. See my post above. #12.
