Need my brake actuator replaced after a bunch of dash lights came on. Diagnosed at dealer as brake actuator. They want around $2300 for the part alone and doesn't seem to be cost effective on my 2005 Prius. I have ordered the part online and am going to have it replaced. I understand its best to have Toyota dealer replace, but wanting to know if anyone has ever replaced the actuator themselves? Is this a replacement part that needs to be done by a hybrid mechanic or any mechanic with brake knowledge able to do it??

    Anything helps. Thanks

Another alternative would be to buy a used part from a salvage yard. The replacement needs to be done by a mechanic who has access to the Toyota repair manual (techinfo.toyota.com) and Toyota Techstream (or Mini VCI for the DIYer) and will follow the specified process.

Not hard if you have access to the factory repair procedure.
