I've been lurking around priuschat.com since we purchased our v in February 2013. I thought it's time to finally get on board and post. Here are my findings and thoughts:

    • Purchased new in February 2013. Mileage = 12
    • Current Mileage = 52,250
    • Driving Mode: Normal
    • MPG (measured at the pump with 107 fillups) = 47
    • Fuelly Information: Big Red v
    • Dashboard MPG estimate = 50.4
    • Tires: Bridgestone Turanza EL400. OEM with an estimated 5K-8K miles left before replacement
    • Tire PSI = 38 all around. Pressure checked at least monthly. Rotated every 5K
    • Warranty service performed: Software update per recall. No change to performance or MPG resulting from the recall
    • Oil Changes: Every 10K per Toyota. Performed at dealership
    • Cabin air filter: Changed by owner every year
    • ICE air filter: Changed by owner every year
    • Repairs: Windshield replacement due to stone damage
    • Other repairs or maintenance: Wipers replaced once
    • Air conditioning usage: If it's over 70F, the AC is on!

I have been extremely satisfied with our v. I am not a hypermiler. I do live in an area of the Valley, that has several miles of gradual downhill/uphill grades and the nearest traffic signal to my home is 6 miles. Makes for some good steady driving. We love the room, especially the back seat for our two middle school aged children. The Prius has taken us on several family trips. Thumbs up, I say, to the Prius v!

The Prius v remains one of my favorite cars. I'm looking forward to when our kids are bigger and out of the gigantic car seats, then we'll be able to move my wife out of the Odyssey and into a v.

Thanks for your post sharing your Prius v experience!

I've gotta agree with JRs assessment and my V. I purchased my V new over a year ago and get slightly better MPG but I run around in ECO mode all the time. It's kinda neat to get 69+ MPG when I first fill up the tank, and watch the average drop to 54+ MPG by the time its ready for its next fill-up. This, of course, goes without saying that these mileages occur during the AZ 'off season' which occurs during the transitions between summer and winter. My typical summer MPG runs 46 MPG (cannot survive without the AC) and in our mild winter season it runs 49 MPG. Oh, and I only run my tires 2psi above the factory spec. Otherwise, all else is the same. I love this car more than my 2nd gen.
