When I want to cancel navigation guidance, I always go through a long sequence of button presses.

What's the fastest way to cancel the navigation guidance? (I don't want the guidance to resume when the car is restarted, BTW.)

Thanks, I'm talking about cancelling a navigation to a destination that has already begun, not cancelling the voice recognition process.

I can tell it "pause guidance", but that just pauses it. Telling it "stop navigation" seems to do the same thing.

Oh, choose Route at bottom of screen then select Delete Destination.

Yes, that's what I do. I'm not driving right now (thankfully), but here are the approximate steps I have to take just to get the voice navigation to stop: First I find the little Route button on the bottom of the screen (might be mistaken about this step). Then I press it. Then a new menu appears. I then find the Delete Destination button. I then press the Delete Destination button. Then the system overlays a question asking me if I really want to delete the destination. I then visually locate the Yes button. Finally, I press the Yes button.

That's much too much work and distraction while driving a car. I'm hoping there is a simpler method: either fewer button presses or a voice command.

It's interesting that Toyota prevents you from using many simple features while driving, yet they made the cancel guidance system as complicated and distracting as possible.

    Preeeus,

That's interesting. Do you know what version of the Entune/NAV/Bluetooth you have? My wife has a 2013 RX450h and her Entune/Voice/NAV does not have any voice commands to "Pause Guidance", "Stop Guidance", "Resume Guidance", etc.... According to Charlotte Lexus they do not exist in new models either. I registered a safety complaint with the NHTSA on their website safecar.gov.

I have found the NAV/Bluetooth in our 2006 and 2007 Prii 100x's better than in her Lexus :( Unfortunately no one who has driven the 2016 has stated whether this safety issue has been corrected for the new model.

Say "Pause Guidance" now, hit the buttons to delete the destination when you're stopped?

On my system, it takes just two keystrokes: 'Options', then 'Stop Guidance'.

    1. Press upload_2015-12-2_15-43-8.png
    2. Say "Delete All Destinations". She'll reply with "Delete all destinations? Say "Yes" or say "No" to end voice recognition without deleting"
    3. "Yes"

    Alternatives

You can also press the "Enter" button on the screen for Step 3.

I'll check the next time I'm driving. Well, before I'm actually driving. (y)

Can you remind me how to show the version number?

Ya, that's what I often do. But by the time I stop, I forget. Then when I start again, she starts her guidance, which is annoying. Then I engage in rude and condescending discourse with her that she should know that I don't want to continue the navigation. She doesn't seem to mind, though. ;)

What year is your Prius? What's the version of the nav system? I don't see a "Stop Guidance" option. That would be great!

    You're a genius! (y) Thank you. :) I'll definitely give that a try. Much less distracting. (y)

Now I just have to memorize it... I can imagine my brain now...
"End guidance"... no... that's not it... "Stop navigation"... no that's not it... "Cancel directions"... no that's not it... oh yeah... "Delete all destinations." Voila.
