I successfully install techstream 10.30.029 on my laptop win 7. However, when I go to techstream and under 'setup' tab (to seclect VIM), there is only one option. There is noway I can connect the OBD II cable to techstream. I already have the mini-vci install before install the techstream. I verify that by looking in device manager, and nothing look unnormal. By the way, my CD software comes with the cable doesn't include Xhorse firmware update tool, so I cannot verify my cable is good or bad. Please help!!!

First, don't upgrade the firmware. Your mini VCI cable is an xhorse knock off. Using xhorse firmware could render your mini vci useless. Is your win7 machine 32bit or 64 bit? mini vci driver only works in 32bit OS. If you have 64 bit OS, you can use virtualbox to install a 32bit windows.
My laptop runs Win8.1 64bit. I use virtualbox to install WinXP 32bit and techstream and mini vci driver. It works.

I mostly used this thread to install Techstream on my Windows 10 x64 laptop:

Techstream TIS VCI Installation Guide (64-bit OS) Including All Software Needed! - Scion FR-S Forum | Subaru BRZ Forum | Toyota 86 GT 86 Forum | AS1 Forum - FT86CLUB

I say mostly because I installed a newer version of Techstream and was referring to some other posts also. But from what I recall, this was pretty much all I did

My set up did work.. I was able to get into the customization settings, but I wasnt able to change my TPMS IDs since my mini-vci cable is old (1.4.1?). I ordered a new one, but its not here yet.

I'm trying to run a similar setup to yours... the host runs Wins7 64bit and VirtualBox has a 32bit XP install on it. Having some issues though.

I have the XP box up and running, driver and all, but I can't get VirtualBox to recognize the cable when I plug it in. My other USB devices are available from the VB menu, but not the cable. Win7 just says that it's an unrecognized device and puts that little yellow triangle next to it in Device Manager.

Do I have to get Win7 to recognize it before VB will load it?
