    Hi Everyone,

I just joined and am looking for some advice for a 2015 Prius Plug In (Base).

    1. I'm not too happy with the standard headlights (love the advanced model's headlights, but it didn't work out to purchase the advanced model). Can anyone offer me advice on replacement bulbs? Are there any bright high quality LED's I could swap out the parking lights, headlights, and brights with? I looked to see how accessible the lights are and its seems like a quick and easy fix with the right bulbs... Thanks in advance!

    2. Any way to get the daytime running lights to stay on at night with the headlights? They really look nice and since they are LED they should last plenty long. Would love to fix it so they were on in DRL mode as well as Headlight mode at night.

    3. I've seen a few Prius' driving around with turn signals on the side mirrors. I love how this looks! How difficult is this to do and how much does it cost? Not looking to spend a ton of money, but for the right price would love to have those installed.

Yes, there are 2 options which are both discussed somewhat frequently in the Gen3 Accessories and Mods subforum. First is to replace your standard H11 bulbs with higher output H7 bulbs. The H7 bulb requires a tiny bit of modification to fit into the socket of an H11 bulb (something you can probably do with a nail file?). The second option is to replace your halogen H11 bulbs with HID H11 bulbs. This would require a bit of plug&play since you would need to install the necessary HID ballasts. Some HID enthusiasts would also say that the stock Prius projector doesnt provide a clean enough cut-off so you will get some stray light (sometimes referred to as "squirrel finders"). So some HID enthusiasts would also recommend opening you headlight housing and replacing the stock projector assembly with a retrofit kit. Personally, I just installed a plug&play HID kit. The difference is night and day, almost literally.

Yes, there's a thread in the Gen3 Accessories and Mods subforum. IIRC, it requires pulling the DRL relay and replacing it with a jumper/wire that turns on the DRLs anytime the car is on, whether the headlights are on or off. Some people also run a switch to it and mount the switch in the dash, very clean.

There's a long thread in the Accessories and Mods subforum about this. Its generally referred to as the JDM turn signal mirrors. You can find the painted mirror covers with turn signal/running light/puddle light on eBay for about $150, shipped from Taiwan. Installation is fairly straightforward if you're decent with electrical stuff. If not, you can find a local installer (Music Box in El Monte was my choice) who will do it for about $120, IIRC.

But in any case, if you havent already done so, swing by the Gen3 Accessories and Mods subforum. You'll find a wealth of information there and enough mods you'll want to do that will help to drain a bank account. :)
