Aside from @Danny, the other clever and honest reviewer, Jason Torchinsky, recorded a maximum acceleration with his cell phone and posted it.

ps. By "honest", I mean compliant with the news embargo. I learned a long, long time ago that the man who would cheat for you, will cheat you.

he did a poor job of expelling the 'simulated shift points'. does that mean the shifter changes rpm, or not?

    Merged.

keep in mind, a cvt, and an eCVT are two different animals.

    Merged...

was he shifting to accomplish this?

If anyone cares to look, the 2016 Owners Manual pdf is available, I'm sure if there was a way to manually select "gears" they'd mention it in there.

thanks bob, no mention of shifting, torque, paddle shifters, gears, simulated gears, or whatever. seems pretty much like the gen3 in those repeats.

didn't understand why they had a pic of the c interior, did i miss something?

    Merged.

    you're spoiling our fantasies.

Maybe it's because the interior is so ugly (Re: the blue and white interior in a red vehicle). I never thought the "c' interior was that great, but suddenly, it doesn't look too bad.

Of course it has,it would only be an option for the driver !
Maybe the reviewer switched to "B" that could explain it .

So the heater is still slow warming the cabin up !
I was hoping the automatic grill shutters and the new EHR-System would make a big difference !
So they have been driving that machine for 4 days, and yet they don't even mention how the new LED Headlights perform ?
Has Toyota forbidden these reviewers to talk about them ?

When is the Prius release date? I just looked at the official Toyota Prius website, and they are still talking about the 8 Sep show in Vegas.

Earlier, someone mentioned that there are a few Pri on the west coast. Is it possible that the G4 being shown and driven by journalist are pre-production units?

Several years ago, I bought a dozen or so socks at Costco, exactly the same make and model. Then I went home and threw out all of the existing, mismatched pairs. Since then, no more 'sock hunts.'

A nice warm pair of socks can keep you on your toes and in the artic keep your toes on you.

Varied reaction to the new Prius:
So, if I understand Bob, he has insulated himself from having his "socks knocked off" by purchasing multiple pair?
disco has no concern, because he knows where to find his socks after being "knocked off."
And KrPtNk did't get his "socks knocked off" at all, and continues to be warm and cozy.
    Did I get that right?

    . . .
Not only is the new 2016 Prius is the most fuel-efficient car you can buy without a plug, it's actually the most fuel-efficient car ever sold in the U.S.

It even beats the 2000 Honda Insight, an ultra-high-tech two-seat minicar rated at 53 mpg combined (using today's rating system).
    . . .

Brilliant! Wish I'd thought of this.

Insight 53 MPG was manual. The CVT version was rated 47 MPG which Gen3 already beat.

So, is the 2016 Prius MPG computer readout accurate? Our 2010 Prius is not. If it reads 50 mpg calculated it will always be lower by 2.5 - 4 mpg consistently when calculated by miles divided by gallons of gas. So does anyone know the answer on this one????
