I ran out of gas in my 2011 Prius and immediately all warning lights came on as well as the "check hybrid system" light. After filling the gas I read similar threads on here and trouble shooted the battery. 12v Battery tested good, so now what is the next step? I also did a reset on the 12v battery and that didn't work. I appreciate any help.

you need at least 3 gallons in the tank,if you ran the traction battery dead you might have to get it towed to the dealer for a recharge.
how many bars are showing on the display for the battery?

The gas gauge now show 4 bars. When I press power the lights all come on and it won't allow me to put it in drive or reverse.

you might want to try to disconnect the black wire on the 12 volt where it screws into the body and let the car sit for about 5 min's then reconnect it and start as normal..computer might need to be reset.

looks good, did you add 5 or 6 gallons?

also, recheck your 12 volt connections, and where the ng attaches to the body.

Does the above image indicate anything about battery life? I tested the 12v and "reset" it by unplugging and replugging but that didn't work.

Important question, you did run out of gas and for how long did you drove in EV mode?
the Hybrid battery might be depleted....................

No ready light.. I rolled about a mile straight downhill last night into my garage when all the indication lights came on.

The guy from AAA unplugged the 12v battery this morning to see if that would reset the system but it didn't change anything.

okay, you want to have someone check those connections, and also test your 12 volt again.

Regardless of what the state-of-charge is reading, maybe you upset the system somehow, running electric-only while out-of-gas. That's a very common circumstance. Hopefully a dealership will read the codes, sort it out. It may just need some intervention with their software, and you'll be ok: the charge indicator is a big positive.

A little late now: but in future, aim for good mpg, not high miles per tank.

So are you saying that the AAA person didn't do it right? They were here 5 minutes ago and I saw their machine read the 12v as battery good.

Is there any alternative to having it towed to the dealership (I.e. Bringing the device here?) I live SUPER far from town.
