    Would you define "but don't wear well". I want/need a nice ride too.

    The TrueContact has been discussed on here and seems to do very nicely on Prii. It's most notable strength (to me) is winter traction, but it is the currently the top-ranked tire in its category on Tirerack. If I were purchasing new tires today, I'd look at the TrueContacts first.

    I am not at all a name brand shopper when it comes to tires. I find that each manufacturer has its strong-performing tires and its duds, so I rely much more heavily on survey and test results (especially those on Tirerack), and ignore the brand name on the tires.

    @tanglefoot

    One thing I've noticed with Michelin, when just walking the dog and glancing at car tires: it's REALLY easy to spot the brand name "Michelin", and nigh impossible to discern WHAT Michelin. I really doubt this is coincidental.

    My car came with Bridgestone Ecopia and I replaced them with Bridgestone Ecopia Plus 422. Great price, quite ride and great MPG.

    What were those OEM Ecopia? 422 without the plus?

    OEM were EL 400 on my touring. Not particularly good tires, but I'm quite performance-minded.
