I just received the Toyota.de newsletter where they informed that the new Prius will start selling on Feb. 20th.
On the link they provide, there is no mention of that though. I am not aware of any official pricing yet available.
Once thing they do confirm though, is that in the EU combined cycle the new Prius achieves 3L/100km vs 3,9L/100km of Gen3 (and 70g/km vs 89g/km CO2 emissions). That is almost a 25% improvement in fuel consumption. If the EU cycle has any meaning.
Although I have to say that I did manage to beat the EU fuel consumption ratings of Gen3 more often than once.
They also state that the 80km/h-120km/h acceleration is in 8,3 secs.
They don't mention any Li-Ion battery, but talk only about a new Ni-MH one. (to my knowledge the Prius sold in Germany comes only with a kit, not with a spare tire).

    It appears February is the date for the European release;

New Prius | New Cars | Toyota UK

No pricing available in the UK, though recently the Prius has been very expensive for what it is - more expensive than the Lexus CT200h base model!

Even with the new 70g/km rating, it now falls into a higher taxing bracket than previously which takes away some of the benefits the previous generations had. I aren't too hopeful of a success here due to the high cost, the lack of tax benefits, the sloping roof line (resulting in lack of taxi sales) and it now falling outside of free access to the London Congestion Charge Zone area. Due to the oil price drop petrol is now cheaper than in early 2009, again possibly giving reason not to buy it.

It's now just a normal, slightly overpriced car. I don't think Toyota love it like they did. The Mirai is now their golden child.

same here, it's going to take a lot of incentivizing to increase long term sales.

UK Pricing has been available for months. Since UK is biggest West EU market for Toyota, they are really good with getting customers informed (where most of continental Toyota distributors wont have prices until about week before sales start).

New Toyota Prius price and specifications announced

it is not really the same... Prius will do well in the US... not in the 2010 numbers but Toyota will sell a boatload of Rav4's instead and they dont care.

In Europe, Prius is not considered a core model. It is like Yaris in the USA. Unless we are talking about specific countries that have some tax benefits for low consumption vehicles, dealers wont work hard to sell it. They have Yaris, Auris and now Rav4 hybrids to sell instead. First two locally produced and without extra customs tacked on the price.

    Wow that's expensive;

£23,295 base model to £27,450 for the range topper! Wow.

The Lexus CT200h (yeah I know it's an older model but it's a Lexus) starts at £21,245 to £29,745. To compare the BMW 3 series runs from £25,160 and the Nissan Leaf starts at £20,790.

Lexus is missing a lot of tech from Prius, for instance LEDs are low beam only, no self parking, older nav/tech, smart entry only on 3 doors, no HUD,old precrash that works poorly. Base model is also significantly less equipped than Prius and it is smaller... CT200h looks like a poor deal right now compared to its brother Auris HSD.

Also loaded CT200h with precrash is 33.2k GBP.

Prius gen4 sales figures will tell all, as will Toyota market share.

Yeah, G4 wont influence market share... well, it will be up compared to G3 for sure, 2015 vs 2016 so it will :).

But it is Aygo, Yaris, Auris and Rav4 that influence marketshare... together with Verso and Avensis, those are core 6 models for Toyota EU, those are the ones they fight for (depending on market).

Besides, cool sells... Toyota has decided to focus on profits in Europe and not cheap prices... so now they are profitable again and sales are slowly rising back but not roaring. Lexus is doing much better despite crazy prices of NX and RX, because people pay for cool these days again.

Toyota UK sales up 5% for 2015, more so than Ford, Opel, VW or PSA. Lexus sales up 14.7% for the year. Both dont have good prices as they had pre-2009 era.

Awesome! They can rise the price. I'm really keen to see what TME will prepare for us. But lm worry a little bit.

According to the EPA ratings this new version performs only marginally better in fuel economy as previous model. EU and Japanese tell another story.
Did Toyota really redesign everything in the HSD to simply achieve a marginal fuel consumption improvement in their main market? (USA).
How come the EU rating is 20% better? While the EPA less than 10%?
And moreover: what is the improvement in winter conditions? What is the improvement at 130km/h?
It cannot be that they are selling a new Prius with marginal better EPA ratings and essentially much higher prices for features and options already standard in many other vehicles....

This basically tells you that it's all just a numbers game. We won't know for sure until we have more time and more owners but initial reports have come in with owners easily beating the EPA numbers with mpg in the low 60s with 20°C temps. And these aren't the Eco models. I don't know why the EPA numbers are conservative.

they added more features which ate up some of the mpg's. most people seem to be pleased with the quieter interior, more comfortable seats, independent rear suspension and so on.

members are already driving their Prii in USA and reporting big gains in MPG... what EPA says is not relevant anyway (and especially what EU cycle says). All this info is available by simply reading these forums as you know.

As to the "much higher" prices, and features available standard in other vehicles, what exactly are you referring to? Let me know what other cars in Europe have standard full LEDs, smart entry, electric drivers seat, automatic cruise control with precrash, etc, etc? Prius "might" be expensive, but there is nothing else with same features standard - you pay extra for these in S class, let alone lower models.

What I was trying to say is that offering features by default in standard trims by having the car more expensive, is not a nice way to sell them. It simply makes the minimum purchase price higher without any chance to avoid some "standard" items one might not want and save some XXXk€.
Adding to that, my point is that unless the EPA ratings are extremely conservatory and the new Prius has a markedly (e.g. 20% more) really better fuel consumption, it feels to me it is only a redesign with updated features that other cars offer already. And especially if you own already a Prius 3rd gen, and the fuel consumption is marginally better, buying a more expensive Prius to get a redesigned dashboard with new graphics and some new statistics, i.e. not that astounding features, doesn't seem to be a good reason to dish out 20-30k€. That it handles better, sure - but I am not getting a Prius to do a rally and it has handled so far pretty well. I buy the Prius for its drivetrain, fuel consumption and technology. Not for a race at the traffic light or on a hilly road on a weekend. There are much better cars for that.
I am sorry I cannot express myself more clearly. In other words I am still thinking "So, what is really new here? I mean really innovative?"
I.e. It is definitely for me more an evolution than a revolution.

Stats coming from real users, and a test drive, with German Pricing at hand will answer a lot of questions. :)

agreed. if you're waiting for an 80 mpg car, you probably own the last one you'll ever buy. most people probably won't be buying gen 4 for a few mpg's, likely it will be their first prius, or they like some of the other improvements, or they just need a new car.
there was no real impetus to buy a gen 3, if you owned a perfectly good gen 2.

I understand, you want it to be cheap... it will never be cheap.

You have an option to get Auris Hybrid, which is a lot cheaper than Prius per m2 of vehicle.
