I have an iPod classic 160gb that I use as my source of audio. Works perfect. It's plugged directly into the usb input in the center console and it works great. I recently upgraded my phone so I thought I'd try using my now older iPhone 5S as the player in place of the iPod. Here's what I observed... When browsing for music on the iPod and I choose "genre">>"artist">>"play all songs" the iPod plays all tracks in order sorted by albums and the tracks in proper track order in each album. When doing this with the iPhone however the iPhone just returns a list of all tracks in all albums totally in alphabetical order by track name. LoL sorted by track name! Wth is with that? How is an alphebetical list tracks ever useful in any way? Mind blowing dumb.

So in case anyone has been wondering about the bs order of tracks your car is playing from your iPhone, it's the iPhones fault not the car stereo...

This is the same thing I experience with my iPhone. I think it started with an update to iOS 8.

Apple keeps changing the folder structure of music with each iOS update. Toyota cannot or chose not to update our vehicle software. I can't say I blame them. They're a car company, not a stereo company. Constant software updates will be costly customer service especially when it changes every year.

Anyway, my iPod Touch with iOS 6 works perfectly. iOS 7 on my phone started getting buggy and missing podcasts. iOS 8 is so broken, I don't even bother connecting anymore and just use Bluetooth.

It's not a matter of software on Toyota's part. Nothing they could do would fix the problem. The issue is the playlist that the iphone comes back with when a request for all tracks from an artist is given. It's all apples problem and would be an extremely easy fix.

Alright, you go ahead and call Apple dumb. I'll continue to think that Apple is under no obligation to provide compatibility to a car with their phone. Then I'll look ahead at Apple Carplay and join your complaint when my playlists still don't work.

I never said anything about the phone having compatibility issues with the prius or any other car. Any device that can play music from the iphone via usb will have this issue. The phones music software itself was changed to specifically to return playlists in this order. That is why I call apple dumb.

They have no obligation, but it's pretty "brain dead" to realize so many other products that do not get software upgrades are designed to work with their products and then can't do just that because Apple keeps upgrading to a level that's no longer compatible.

Hell, I don't even like using my iPhone for music because the new app is junk and confusing to use compared to the old layout.

This reminds me of the days before DirectX. Video and sound cards had to be specifically configured to work with your PC, and darn few were "preset" to work with Windows. Then, Microsoft pushed through the DirectX architecture, and every "compliant" device now was plug-and-play. Probably the smartest software move Microsoft ever did. Eliminated a lot of guess work and frustration in the marketplace.

Ahhh, thanks for the soundblaster compatible, dos4gw memories and boot disks to optimize ram to run a game.

I'd rather complain about Apples 30 pin connector, to Lightning (How much trash did Apple add to landfills by not supporting micro USB), FireWire (thank goodness its finally dead, thunderbolt, you're next), Safari as default browser and only with iOS9 allowed full speed Java on 3rd party apps.
