i'm lost, what's your definition of relevant? prius hatchback is the best selling hybrid of all time, a BEV sells more than half of that in a year by % of manufacturer's sales, and it's not relevant? what is then?

as someone else mentioned…does that make all non-Toyota hybrids irrelevant too, since they are less than a "drop in the bucket" by your standards? (toyota owns 75% of the hybrid market)

or maybe BMW as a manufacturer in general is irrelevant, since it sells like 12% of the cars toyota does. but hold on, we were talking about lexus, and how the lexus FCV will blow everything out of the water, so Nissan and Toyota are actually both irrelevant, since neither is in the luxury car market.

 

To power your house with a Mirai, you will need to install a Chademo charger that can take the power in from the car. They are available in Japan, and will also work with a BEV to power the house, but I don't know if they are available in the US yet. It might be easier and cheaper to get Bob Wilson to install an inverter in your Prius for you if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

Agree on the lack of the Prius in the UCS graph. It is comparing to a 25mpg car, so the Prius emissions should be -50% on it.

Nothing new is being said here, we already know that Toyota would be selective on which owners would be approved to buy or lease a Mirai. There is no delay in building the Hydrogen stations, they are still on course to be in place within California by the end of the year.
It so interesting that Inside EV and the EV community seem so concern about the Mirai, that articles such as these need to be written in hopes that Hydrogen fails as well as Toyota.

I am equally lost on your response. I stated that Tesla and Nissan are the only two auto manufactures that are selling enough EV vehicles to be considered relevant. BMW, Mercedes and VW/Audi are at the very low end in sales. This makes it nothing more then a nitch vehicle for them, at least for the time being.

yes i do hope hydrogen fails. for the good of us ALL. Toyota? i'd rather they succeed with a BEV. it's simple. I can fuel my BEV almost anywhere and everywhere. Hydrogen, not as convenient. NEVER will be. THAT's what will cause it to fail. And that is laughably the ONE thing it's supposed to be good at!

Delusion is strong in hydrogen. Must be one of it's many elemental properties...

 

Yep, the sooner the Mirai drops off the face of the earth, the better. It will mean Toyota's endless R&D funds, no shortage of which have been acquired through public fleecing (thanks California), can go towards something that makes sense.

The oil companies are reeling now...let's not give them and the scalpers with their long history of rampant speculation yet another invitation to become our captors. The utilities can't stop us from making our own energy at home, yet.

Yeah and my reply was that BMW is doing quite well given their TOTAL volumes. 3% of total brand sales for a brand new vehicle that isn't even two years old is quite good. How many years did it take for the Prius to make up 3% of Toyota sales?

But the afford didn't and hasn't recognised the significance of the hybrid when it was officially released here in 2001, or the significance of a plug in model.

WhatCar have a rubbish reputation as being on the lap of the VW Group. Just read any of their reviews and they always always compare the car to the equivalent VW model which is apparently always better. 'Which' (our version of Consumer Reports) on the other hand are a little more respected.

Take any WhatCar rating with a big pinch of salt.
