I'm partial to the Lexus ES300H when I get older. It's one of those rare luxury cars that I know is identical to the plebian version (Camry) but I am very willing to pay the extra for L-Finess quality. Call me an idiot. :)

heheh you mean Camry is "peasant" version !!!..I hear you ...:) But if you look closely the "peasant" and the Lexus "royalty" happen to share the same 3.5 L V6 engine, Toyota even tried to make Camry Lexus quiet, but its not quite there..No wonder Camry 2016 Brochure says, "Deserve respect at every corner" lol.

How much did you pay for your new Camry? That's a very good car. Congrats.

Thanks.Paid about 29K. Mine has the Blind Spot monitor, upgraded JBL Premium with 10 speakers and rear traffic alert.
There was another higher version than mine having the full Technology Package, the Spoiler, and the door sill has "Camry" on it.
This version was 3K more than mine, I didn't go for it.

Interesting discussion, great car you bought in the end. I am amazed how cheap cars seem to be in the US compared to the Netherlands :(. I am very certain I'll be going for a Lexus IS300H, since I doubt I can live with a non-hybrid car and without CVT (yes I love it) anymore, but I'll have to wait 3-4 years untill it hits the 20K euros mark. A 2013 IS300H is about 32K euros as of now. I am flabbergasted by your prices.

I feel like I travel back in time when I drive my brother in law's 2012 Audi A4, that's how much I love my Prius.

What? I didn't know there was a hybrid IS! No fair, we only get the ES hybrid. I'd totally pay extra for a rear wheel drive hybrid.

Yep, a great car with 223BHP that combines extreme comfort with a sporty ride. The price/package ratio is unbeateable compared to its closest competitiors IMO (Mercedes C-class and BMW 3 series). Ever since I test drove it (shamelessly wasted the dealer's time), it's been my dream car. Sadly, I'm not willing to pay more than 20K euros for a car and depreciation for cars within 4 years is crazy here (so I won't even think about buying one untill 2018). We don't even have a non-hybrid IS here and I never heard of ES300 before this thread. It's just too bad Lexus has a very, very small footprint here. On the plus side, it'll be all the more special when I (hopefully) buy a IS300H :)

Congratulations! Did you try Hybrid version of Camry? You didn't like it? I heard it is faster than i4, and I think it is cheaper than v6.

Hybrid I think has total Horse Power of 200, compared to 179 for the I4. Little bit of more power with Hybrid Camry.
Hybrid Cam has the same price as the V6. I tried it, but I personally prefer the smooth V6. Also I checked the 5 year cost to own from KBB.
about $1500 savings over 5 years when you consider the Camry Hybrid.

Sorry: which one came out $1500 ahead, the hybrid?

Correct, Camry Hybrid has about $1500 savings over the Camry V6 ( over a 5 year period).
But I think Hybrid also needs the battery replaced after 5-6 years which KBB did not take into account ,I guess.

Congrats, FYI the 3.5L V6 runs fine on regular 87 octane gas. I think someone mentioned previously that the V6 Avalon requires premium gas, I'm pretty sure that is not the case.

The Avalon takes 87 gas. I have had three Avalons (98, 2001, 2015). Great cars. I'm selling the 2001 right now. Most reliable car I've ever owned. I hope the 2015 is as good. Along with my 2013 Prius I am in pretty good shape car wise hopefully for the next 10 years.

I pretty sure those sold terrible down here. And mpg wise they were pretty darn bad as well.

They kinda look like an oversized Gen3, kinda.

    A hybrid version..? Meh..

Do they have a hybrid Venza in Canada available??

I see, Amex gives on average HC true costs for XLE 1K less. I guess it's marginal. People with HC like good torque on starting (compare i-4). Sorry to hear you left hybrid family. Enjoy your car!
