    Hey all,

Ok, I'm new to the 2G world and wanted to give the CVT some new fluid as I had no idea when it was changed last.

There is a 10mm hex plug on the wheel side of the transmission that can be accessed by removing the drivers wheel. Is this also a fill plug as well as the one in the top front next to the coolant hoses that you are supposed to use? I hope I didn't screw up but I filled the CVT from the side plug :-/.

Just need to know if I am in trouble or not.

    thankls

Is that a third gen pic? Think so. OP's got 2'nd gen, the drain and fill bolts are 2 diff sizes I think.

The side plug is not the correct plug. However if you could fill the transaxle with 3.9 US quarts of Toyota ATF WS then there is no problem.

If you added significantly less or more fluid, then you have a problem.

Ok, 3.9 Qts filled it up, so it seems it is an alternate way to fill. I checked by removing the drain plug to make sure it had gone into the CVT cavity. My guess is the factory installed a plug as a vent or a way to check the CVT oil pump??? There was no spring or check valve as I read in another post. All seems well as I drove it over 100 miles today and it shifted, engaged and did what it was supposed to do.
