I have a 08 Prius that had 87k and the hybrid battery failed. Toyota agreed to pay for a new battery when the factory warranty went out 2 months ago. I'm about to be out of the country for a couple weeks. Will this be ok to leave the vehicle? I'm just a little skiddish leaving this vehicle even though it will have a 1 year warranty on the battery.

I think you were still in your hybrid warranty. 100k/10 years or 150k/10 carb.

Just charge the hybrid battery up to full and disconnect the 12v battery (or use one of the battery tenders everyone here talks about).

sure why not, its a new battery and 2 weeks won't kill it.

    Gravely incorrect.

Read for yourself, as your belief was incorrect. From Toyota FAQ.
    Toyota Owners

I had a part replaced at an authorized Toyota dealership under warranty. What warrantycoverage do I have for this part?
The Toyota Service Part Warranty is in effect for 12 months, regardless of mileage, from the date the part was installed on the vehicle, or the remainder of any applicable New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever provides greater coverage, with the exception of batteries.

With a Gen2 sitting a couple weeks of course the small 12v batt is the main concern.
To reduce drain you can turn off SKS (smart key ) system under the steering wheel on a Gen2.
