When the porcelain gets old, there's the gloss black trim, Darth Vader Nav, minuscule glove box. Just drop kick the "sculpture" dash and start afresh.

I really think it complements the Blizzard Pearl.

Yeah I really don't mean to 'dis your ride. It is what it is, and you're running circles around us late adopters with your mpg. (y)

i'm sure there were people who wouldn't buy the gen 1,2 3, and will now buy the 4 because the looks finally agree with them. it cuts both ways, you can't please everybody.

I am hoping for a quiet early phase-out of the "Wal-mart White" trim in favor of black or textured chrome. Even battleship gray would have been better than that white.

While they are at it, could they also give us another optional steering wheel design that doesn't look like a happy puppy.

Krmcq from that angle the interior looks pretty good, and good point about Blizzard Pearl. Nice photo of your car also, that angle really highlights how much different the styling is from the previous model. Looks like Super White in the photo but I realize I'm just dreaming.

Gads, that white in the Volt photo a page back is -- reVolting! The last thing I want in any car interior is some errant sunlight reflecting off that shiny porcelain stuff and distracting my eye from the road ahead. And the Sun isn't the only consideration for me as it still looks awful just as it sits. I thought I read, early on, there were going to be some GenIV combinations where the white stuff wasn't there, or was only an option. I've been through the customizer app at the US Toyota site, and they're all white, from what I can find.

I have no doubt that many early adopters will post their "white out" tutorials; sprays, dipping, leather inserts, or whatever. I don't think the $200 dealer option goes far enough as it doesn't cover the shifter plate or steering wheel inserts. Time will sort this out.

It seems Toyota must have heard enough complaints about this. They offer this "appliqué" to cover it up. [IMG]

^ Ah ha! So there is a treatment for the shifter plate! One more spot left to take care of.

I wonder about the evolution of the shifter in the fourth gen design process. A few owners have reported that there's still the little "spot light" on the ceiling, but the shifter is not well illuminated. Maybe in the first 4th gen iteration the shifter was more vertical, and further back in the cell phone charging bay?

Any idea if the applique is removal, should there be a change of mind?

    I don't know. I'm wondering that too.

    i assume it's glued/stuck on?

if you might change your mind, leave it white, it can't be that offensive.

Agreed. I saw it and it wasn't at all offensive.

I was at the local auto show last weekend, and Toyota had several Prius on display.
I think I only remember one of them with the Toilet Bowl White look.

The rest either didn't have it, or had the decal already in place.

In any case, I think if you don't like it, it's a very changeable reality.
