bwilson4web is able to get 1000 miles per tank on both gen 1 and gen 3 on a repeat course. I'm not asking crazy numbers like that. I can routinely get over 700 miles on my 2010 Prius V with 17" rims on normal day to day drive during spring time without running out of gas. Just wanna see how doable is 800 miles/tank is on a 2016.
Please let us know your Prius trim level, distance traveled, dash mpg display, fuel usage, fuel octane and ethanol blend.

Must post pictures of your dash and a picture of total gas pumped to make it on the list. Otherwise, it's just unconfirmed.

Two Eco. First tank, range went to zero at 775 miles. Filled to the top of the filler tube so the MPG calculation may not be accurate depending on how the dealer filled the tank before handing over the keys.

    Very nice! (y)

What type of driving were you doing for that tank? Speeds, commuting or just highway, flat roads or hills? I am impressed and am trying to figure out approx what I could expect on my commute. Thanks.

I have a 125 mile round trip, once or twice a week. Five of them on this tank. About 2/3 of the distance is at 45 MPH, cruise control. The remainder is going through small towns, 25 or 35 MPH. There are an average twenty stops per 125 mile RT. No major elevation changes. Temps between high 30's and low 60's. My screen usually shows 37 MPH average each way. The remaining 200 miles on the tank are shorter trips to the store, movies, restaurant, etc.. Probably 25 MPH average.

Impressive, what type of fuel are you running?

Great job, i dont think im brave enough to do this, i know some cars are different but overfilling the gas tank can cause liquid gas to enter the charcoal canister, or carbon filter, which is designed only for vapor. Gas in the system can affect your car's performance by causing it to run poorly

I don't know what the dealer had in it, but this fill was 92 Octane E0. I wasn't really looking for 92 octane, but it was 20 cents less than the other E0 options in my area, which were 89 or 90 Octane.

Over the years I have been known to do crazy things. Since 2004, I have done this, as well as inflating all 5 of my tires to the same pressure and oil change intervals at 25,000 miles (After an initial one at 10,000). After 12 years and over 500,000 miles, I have had seen no ill effects on my 04 and 12 so I am somewhat skeptical of the warnings against doing these kinds of things.

That said, this is not a recommendation for anyone else to try them. I am just providing the best answer that I can to the questions that are being asked.

I was wondering because the price for 11 gallons seem high.

    Thanks

$2.219 for 92 Octane E0 compared to $1.659 for 87 Octane E10 at the same station. So yes, it is high but I am trying to see how much of a difference E0 makes. Supposedly the HCU needs to learn the new fuel trims due to E0 so it may take a few tanks to get optimal results. Once I have some good data, will switch back to 87 Octane E10.

The engines computer will recognize the fuel octane instantly their is no learning curve.

Not the octane, the greater energy density of E0 vs E10.

wow that could be good fuel. We don't have any E0 and all we got is RFG but if I lived by you I'd be getting 1.5 gal samples in a gas can to get weight to calc my own energy/density. You might expect 10% better range this fill. But even 10% better MPG don't pay off the price delta. But for setting MPG and distance records, you got the right stuff. Can't wait to next fill. Hell at 80 MPG you can afford to spluge on 92 E0. So what @ $24 for 900 miles or whatever you get.

Since E100 has about 70% of the energy content of E0, E10 would have 97%. So the benefit of using E0 over E10 is only about 3%. The improvement between Gen 3 and Gen 4 non Eco is only 4% so a 3% benefit on top of that starts to add up. Add 3% to the 12% upgrade for Two Eco and you could see a 15% improvement over Gen 3. True, paying 33% more for a 3% improvement seems silly, but it is only for a short time while I get some data points.

Your 3% is only counting the ethanol impact. On top of that is the energy content variation in the base gasoline. It can vary, so we don't know for sure, but your 92 Octane could be way better than 3% I think. In my area, no, we have EPA refomulated fuel which is E10 mandate and the premium energy content has to be dialed back to regular. But your area is different ball game.
