Hello folks I'm in need of some expert advice!

So I've looked at and driven a beige Gen 2, it's overall in very good shape. Body and paint is almost perfect with only a very few light scratches. Inside is very good as well. Cloth seats and standard equipment. Oh does have the back up camera too. Touch screen looks good. Also has VSC which I want.

Drives ok as far as I can tell. Does have a little more jolt when switching the engine comes on, unlike the gen 3 I have driven but maybe that's normal. Brakes make a slightly rough spins as though the pads need replacing but it has been on the lot for a while so maybe it's just in need of driving. Carfax shows one owner and a good many services. Total asking price is $7,789 with 101,000 miles.

The Gen 3 I haven't seen yet but in the photos it looks nice. White and grey. Has leather seats, navigation, backup camera. Carfax says three owners, personal use, and a good number of service records. But has 148k miles. Total asking price is $8,944

I haven't haggled with either of them and I doubt they will come down much of any since they are both low compared to others I have seen.

So which is the better choice? Is the Gen 3 worth the extra $$$?

My opinion: Get Gen 3, but not the one you mentioned. Too many owners and miles, and price is too high. Keep looking for better Gen 3.
I just sold mine (G3, 2010 IV solar) with 101k miles and 2 owners for $9.5k (in Atlanta).

price seems way high. Considering we just bought a brand new gen3 for $18K, I can't imagine paying half that for one with 150K miles.

oh sorry I forgot that detail haha. The Gen 2 is 2009 and the Gen 3 is 2010. I also looked a different Gen 3 with 100K miles they are asking $8,298 + $699 "dealer fees". Car drives well and seems to run fine but is worn on some interior locations. Its at a small dealer named Vision Auto in Marietta Ga. Sorry can't post a link yet

I like the newer model of course but a little more than I has planned to spend right now. If its worth the extra then I'll do it but since I haven't owned one I'm just not certain.

i hate to say it, but i like the 2009. the 2010 with 100k also seems good, if you want the gen 3 for the extra 1k. these prices do seem a little high, have you shopped around at all?

I second what bisco said. I like the gen 2. Just bought an 08 myself. I personally prefer to buy the late model Prius in hopes that everything is ironed out. Gen twos also seem like the were over engineered, so they'll last a while. I'm going to drive my 08 until I can buy a fourth gen Prius. :)
