@NutzAboutBolts , Can it be #32 and #33 in the diagram?

If this involves taking the engine apart, then it could be these tensioners.

    I'm not sure.

I was looking at that, but that's internal... isn't your leak coming from the back?

All I know is that when he had the hood open, he had an extended mirror in hand and placed it to the left of the oil cap and right then he said (the mechanic) that I had a leak at my o ring tensioner.

If you are sitting in the passenger seat, the problem area would be right in front of you, within the engine bay, if that makes any sense.

    we're in Santa Clara.

are you able to take a picture of the leak? and it does sound like the part we were talking about. But I just want to make sure it is so we don't get confused on which part of the engine is the problem lol...

Oh wow you are close. I actually went to Santa Clara High School. I am somewhat familiar with the area.

I'm sure it is easier to see with the car on the lift. I can't quite see it just taking a peak within the engine bay.

So you are a mechanic? You own your own shop??

oh ok, but your dealership is doing this repair under warranty right?

and I am an ex mechanic, nick is a parts guy and backyard mechanic for along time. We unfortunately don't own a shop, we do all of our work at home with our tools.

That's awesome. Yeah, the dealer is gonna fix it under warranty.

The dealer however will not touch any aftermarket parts.

You guys are so close, I might just have to ask for your help on other mod projects I have in mind that I'm not comfortable tackling on my own.

Who is Nick?? Is he on the forum too??

How much do y'all charge for installs??:D

Thinking about upgrading the steering wheel.

Maybe switching out the DRL lights.

Dropping the bumper and switching out the taillights.

    And other things.....

Simple stuff for the mechanically inclined, I guess.

yeah no problem. If its just that o-ring, its not serious. If there was a serious issue, the tech at the dealership would've said something.

Wasn't trying to be negative. You apparently didn't understand what the mechanic told you as there is no such thing as an o-ring tensioner. Some shops DO take advantage of people and we see a lot of those instances here.

    Okay let me re-phrase

    Timing Chain Tensioner "O" Ring.

If that still does not make any sense to you,
    Google is your friend.:D

Yeah, google "o-ring tensioner" and see what comes up! :D And let me edit to say glad you weren't scammed and getting it fixed under warranty.

So this is what the dealership is going to repair under warranty.

While in the shop, they will inspect all other items that may be a problem, including the timing chain tensioner o ring.

So what the invoice shows is #19 on the engine diagram.

Hopefully this will help someone that may have this problem in the future.

Thanks for all the input. Greatly appreciated.

@NutzAboutBolts , the Prii is all sealed up. Took the dealer 8 hrs of warranty work. I got her back yesterday.

Attached is a detailed description of what they worked on.

Some info on the Timing Chain Cover install. It's just a leetle nuts, especially considering the cramped, back-breaking location.
