So my wife was just charged $192 to Clean Sliders Calipers ($108 for front + $108 for back less $25 discount because the coupon she had for a free inspection did not apply) at our local dealer in Westboro, MA on her 2010. Seems way high. Is it?

What was the problem .. and why would an inspection coupon help with the caliper work?

To clean everything and lube is about the same as replacing the pads -- if they did it correctly. How much pad material remained?

What is the per hour rate at your dealer ... mine is $125. $198.00 sounds good .

Car (2010) has just 50k miles on it. My wife had calipers stick creating a tremendous amount of heat a couple years ago.

She got a coupon for a free brake inspection in the mail from the dealer (not sure what happened there but it wasn't valid - oh well). She had them look at the brakes and shared her experience with stuck calipers in the past, and was happy to accept their offer to clean and lube them as preventative maintenence.

Good to hear that the price they charged was reasonable. I want to patronize this dealer in the future.

    Thanks.

That's a front and rear brake inspection, basically. Up here in Canada, 15-20 years ago, they'd charge around $400. Good price, hopefully they were thorough. How do the pads and shims look, through the wheel spokes? If pretty clean, with wee bit of anti-seize squeezing out at the shim edges, that's good.

I concur. It's a fair price. They want you to come back.
