    Frankly, I've almost never had 5 in my 2004. With two kids booster seats back there, there's no way anyone fits between them. So, the regular Prius is a 4-seater for me anyway.

    I'm more interested in cargo room and underfloor space, which they messed up completely in the 2016, thus leading me to not buy one.

    I'm impressed with the outside/inside styling. This one is NOT a disappointment. I hoped for more AER, but it's still got more interior, seating, and cargo space than the Volt. I've seen the new Volt in person and was a little put off by its cramped interior and bland styling.
    I was on board in 2012 for the PiP, And I'm on board for this one too.

    I now find this "flat". They called it Prius Prime to be the "best" and it was almost there. I'd rather have a Prius Plugin. The 5 seats are crucial to use with a family and potentially 3 squished large adults in the back (but still, 3 large adults)...

    The Volt 2 has the awkward straddling thing in the middle - but still sounds like more room.

    So here's my list (coming from a 2012 PiP bought used).
    • Sounds like (with the Huge LED Screen) this car might be $35k+, definitely more than the PiP. -1 pt
    • No mention of Wireless Charging? -1 pt
    • Improved MPGe +1 pt
    • Improved Range: +0.5pt (I was hoping for a bit more).
    • Improved Speed EV: +1pt
    • 4 seater: -2 pt
    • First car to market like this? Well...Volt Gen 2 looks nice...: -1 pt
    I'm at -2.5 pts on my buy list which makes it a no buy for me. That 4 seat aspect really gives me mixed messages. It's like...Toyota is trying to go for the Volt customers now, but yet it's less EV...seemingly less room in in the back compared to the Volt Gen 2. It has better "MPGe" but still...less range, and there was no mention of regular mpg.

    How is this better than the regular Prius when the backseating space is less! ARGH! Mixed messages :\

    Agree here, I was fully confident we'd see 25+. Otherwise, very impressive update. MSRP will heavily weigh my final opinion. I felt the Gen 1 PiP MSRP was a tad high.


    I'm fine with the 4 seater so long as the rear 2 are full size. Agree the Volt rears are like an extended-cab pick-up, and I'm very pro-Volt.

    I dislike those "vague" messages. Was the Gen 3 "Comfortable seating for 4" lol. Or is this a take on the Volt...

    I thought the Gen IV 2016 HAD more room than the Gen III, more interior and cargo space overall?

    They eliminated the underfloor storage entirely, got rid of one of the two glove boxes, shrank the one remaining, and overall just got rid of interior places to put stuff. Really, really stupid.

    Leg & Head room was always the primary focus. Compact vs Midsize seating was a big deal. Having a 5th seat was a nice plus, but not as important.

    I am bum-hurt about the glove box issues...they didn't have to do that, why did they? It's like there was more focus on the extreior looks than interior practicality.

    It's "Midsize" right? Volt is not quite Midsize I believe, yet this Midsize car is acting like a smaller car :\

    No, but supposedly all figures improve with the Highlander - now if only they brought down the price of the Hybrid...

    I think we might see 30mpg+ for the Hybrid version. Perhaps even 35 :O The engine tune up should boost the regular version to high 20s. I wonder if they will put the Li-Ion battery type in the Highlander Hybrid.

    I'm awaiting for similar news of the Sienna. I don't expect a Hybrid though that would be rad, but I heard they are upgrading the engine there too for improvement in fuel economy and power.

    They mentioned lower trims on the Hybrid, so I bet they are bringing down the price.

    4 seats = no go for me (I have 3 kids)
    That's stupid because there is the space to have 5

    I'm very disappointed

    Getting 120 MPGe probably implies that the AER rating will now be the full 22 miles on the EPA test cycles without the gas engine needing to blend in. So, no more 6 miles of AER nonsense from Prius haters....

    The rear end profile and side profile of the Prime, to me anyways have more of a Gen3 look as opposed to the new Radical Gen4 look.

    Which I kinda like more..
