Update 4:45pm: There will not be an opportunity to do any additional walkthroughs of the Prime this week, unfortunately. But we should have a chance to drive it pretty soon and of course will have video available of that. Here is the recorded version of the Periscope video from this morning (the Periscope links will go to video archive heaven soon):

Update 3/23 12pm: We have 2 Periscope videos for replay so far: A walkaround with Nathan Kokes from Toyota's Prius Team, and a quick chat with the Chief Engineer. This afternoon we'll have a full walkthrough of the car. Keep an eye on Periscope/Twitter for that.

Chat with Chief: PriusChat on Periscope: "Untitled"

Just like in Vegas for the 2016 Prius reveal, PriusChat has a team on the ground in New York City for tomorrow's Plug-in reveal. I, unfortunately, will be commanding things from PriusChat HQ as my wife and I await the arrival of our 3rd child, but @TonyPSchaefer, @Tideland Prius, @HTMLSpinnr, @Paradox, @HAWAIIANBUILT, and others will be providing on-site reporting.

One thing we're going to do is a Periscope live video walkthrough of the new Plug-in shortly after the reveal. The reveal ends at 9:30am EDT, so I'm thinking 9:45am or so depending on the media scrum. You won't want to miss the initial impressions from some long-time Prius owners, especially if Toyota has a "reveal" like they did in Vegas (which didn't really reveal anything).

For those not familiar with Periscope, it's an app powered by Twitter. You follow PriusChat on Twitter and have Periscope installed and then boom, you'll get notified when we go live in New York.

Following us on Periscope and Twitter will be fun tomorrow, because there might be some random opportunities to catch some great moments from the guys on the ground in NYC. Also, there might be another special Periscope around 11:30am EDT tomorrow.

    Stay tuned!

They are waiting on the press scrum to end and then we'll start the Periscope walk-through.

Please have them examine the cargo situation in detail, folded seats, under floor, center console situation, etc.

So, the cargo area floor raise and the right-rear charge location might be show-stoppers for me. I need the cargo room, and the charge point should be in the front or I have almost no access to it in my garage.

that battery/rear seat looks like a cluster. something an aftermarket installer would offer.

Yes. Toyota really did such a poor job of interior design and layout for utility that it's a pretty major buzz kill for the excellence of the Prius as a whole. I'm no longer considering the plug-in because of the stupid cargo area battery placement, and I won't consider a 2016 liftback until I see if they fixed any of this nonsense in the 2017 or if there are more aftermarket accessories to fix the problems Toyota created in that model. I've designed two of my own accessories but I'd rather not build my own hardware if either Toyota or an aftermarket company can do it more professionally.

Unbelievable what Toyota has done with cargo area. It looks like as somebody decided to add additional cells after the exterior design phase. The 4G's cargo is also a step back when i compare with 3G. The Toyota's cargo specialist has to be fired ;-)

Took me a minute to realize the rear center cupholder thingy does not lift up, thus making a 4 seater. Wow, many of you are tough customers complaining about battery location, intrusion into cargo space. Yo, if you want the range, you've got to have a larger battery for it.

You all have stronger stomachs than I do. Don't want batteries anywhere near that big (and costly) hanging around in my car. Best wishes to you though.

Here's an edited version of the walkthrough from this morning. Looks like that's all we're going to be able to get from New York due to logistics with car availability.
