I just replaced the driver side outer tie rod on our 2007 Prius and now the tie rod hits the wheel when turned too tight to the right or left. I did not move the adjusting nut when I took the old rod off. I sized up the new rod with the old rod and they were same length. Can I adjust the turning radius somehow?

After I've replaced tie rod ends, or done any front end work myself, I always take the car to an alignment shop for final adjustment. I've always been pretty close, but never perfect. Maybe you need them to take a look at your work.

I'm not sure how what you're describing can happen if you got it put together correctly. Maybe a photo would help.

Yup you f'ed it up good but I have done the same thing myself. Its really really hard to do suspension geometry in the driveway lol.
It's alot more involved than you understand.
Listen to Andrew and take it for an alignment. its the best $100 you'll every spend..

Ok, I figured out what was wrong. I again compared the length of the new one with the original one. It was the same and then I noticed that the new one was curved differently than the old one. I then realized there was a right and left to these. I went back to the store and they said the part number I bought was for the driver side so they pulled the only one they had in stock for the passenger side and it was for the driver side. I took it home and in 30 minutes all was well with the steering. Thanks for the input.
