I brought my 2010 Prius in to the dealer to have them perform the TSBs for the new engine mount and manifold during my 70k service. Car is covered by the CPO warranty.

I later received this in my email:
Anybody know anything about this? Had trouble finding anything while googling around.

I am only aware of one "EGR related" TSB, but I have not checked TIS since January. It is possible that a new TSB has been released since then.

lucky you, my dealer fights any TSB by the usual "not duplicated."

correct me if i'm wrong, but that is a manifold TSB. EGR is TSB-75-13.

OP, so far this thread is the only result, doing a google search for the tsb number. Do you have any links, or could that dealer supply you something, a pdf?

There is a component at the head of the EGR "stream", connecting to the exhaust manifold, that is prone to completely clog, especially with cars over 100,000 miles. Downstream clogging is moderate too.

I'm picking up the car today -- hopefully I'll have more info on my shop receipt.

I need to scan the TSB itself after work, but it looks like T-SB-0027-16, which judging by the 16 means that the TSB just came out this year. Maybe someone can find an original PDF copy?

I'm drawing a blank. Scan, or even steady cell phone pic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

Here it is -- T-SB-0027-16 -- or at least the first 5 pages of it :)

    Thanks for that!

Do they do replacement of parts in the subsequent pages? When you get a chance could you post?

They only attached the first 5 pages to my receipt so unfortunately I don't have the rest. I'm guessing though that this first part included with my receipt shows all the part numbers that need to be ordered/invoiced, and that the rest is just installation instructions.

thanks for posting. this is confusing. they list new part # for ECU and then say not to replace it, but just to reprogram it.

BTW, it's covered by 3 years or 36,000 miles warranty. how many 2010-2012 prius cars are still covered? call me cynical, but i believe toyota times the release of their TSB in a way that few people would get a free fix. i saw it with my other toyota cars too.

I think I got lucky since I bought my Prius CPO so I have the 7yr/100k coverage.

Interesting. Will check with my Dealership, but I wonder if the condition being reported prior to 3/36 will qualify my vehicle. Looks like you California folks get it some slack though, especially the PIPs.

Damn I threw that EGR code last week looked it up and cleaned the parts myself. But at 172K I was out of the TSB coverage anyway...

36,000 miles or 3 years is a real cop-out from Toyota. The EGR component directly next to the exhaust manifold is clogging very regularly, based on reports here, somewhere between 100,000 and 150,000 miles.

The owners that have removed it say cleaning it out is hopeless, end up ordering a new one. It has an interior radiator that is nigh impossible to clean. Plus, removable of the component is very labour intensive, pretty much necessitates draining the coolant, just for starters.

Does that "EGR component" (specifically the heat exchanger that's used to cool the recirculating exhaust gas) clog even on engines that haven't yet started guzzling oil? I recall reading of cars with both problems, which may not be coincidental.

No real data (but hey), just seems like EGR clogs as miles go up. And then, if the engine's out, good opportunity

You're right, this is a new TSB.

OP - not having any luck with opening the TSB you posted. I guess I could buy another subscription to TIS and get it.

Here's some jpg snapshots from the pdf, in order, page 1 through 5. There's another 5 pages I believe, but not in that pdf:

I have done this, you can find my post on here somewhere with pictures. (on mobile otherwise I would post a link) It takes time, but it's pretty easy and you do not have to drain your coolant. I'm at 150k, I think, miles and only had to do it once.
