Mendel, I think Toyota is really out of touch with reality on the 'fine bone china' they're hawking in their marketing material.

The white plastic bits almost single-handedly drove me to buy a different car! (2016 Honda Civic - which is an absolutely beautiful design). But when I saw the Eco 2 with some of the white gone in a black interior (black console tray and black lower steering wheel panel) I saw the potential and the positives of this car.

I think they really need to pivot on this point if they want more sales (which I'm sure they do).

it must be a cultural thing with little input from the n/a arm.

Almost same here. I was not getting a good deal from the dealer and I left the negotiation as I was not sure if I really wanted the model Three with "white fine china".

I test drove one Saturday and the dealer mentioned the appliqué kit after I told him it looked like a bidet between the seats. Looks like it will show any dirt or spills. I do like to take a bottle of Coke with me on summer days.

black shows dust like crazy but white hides it :) I haven't spilled anything on mine yet but I don't have a reason to think that it would stain.

Did somebody just call my fine white china a "bidet"?! It's time to drag out my picture again...

How can you refer to such beauty as a bathroom fixture! ;) :ROFLMAO: Hot Green Tea, anyone?

(Spills wipe right up... whoosh.... after applying 2 coats of Maguiar's car wax to the, uh, "porcelain.")

How much more lazy can we humans get??? Perhaps we could wire up "Siri" to the shifter console: "Uh, Siri darling, I need more power!"

Your question has probably been answered 25 pages ago; But yes, the power mode stays in power mode after you shut off/restart. When I push "Penelope's" power button, it's like wham, bam, off too the races!
(almost makes me feel like a young man again! )

Well, Som, I guess I could hold that Hot Green Tea Latte' between my legs...

Heck, that tea is nothing! Next time I got 3 slices of pepperoni/sausage/tomato/jalapeño PIZZA laying on my white china, I'll send you a picture. (Needless to say, my "new car smell" only lasted about 10 minutes!)

I think, with the release of the Prime, it will be possible to delete all of the white entirely, while maintaining full Three or higher functionality.

The Two/Two Eco shifter applique hides the white on the shifter completely.

The Prime center console is piano black instead of white, so it looks better than the applique.

Then, the steering wheel. The Two/Two Eco steering wheel is an option, but it's not a SofTex steering wheel, and it still has the white wings. However, the Mirai steering wheel is a black steering wheel of the same design as the Three/Four wheel, but with black carbon fiber accents instead of "fine white china".

Maybe it's time to get off the porcelain (so to speak) and move on to something else?

My main gripe about my Model 2 ECO is its insistence on playing the music stored on my iPhone 6 whenever I get into the car. As I explained elsewhere, even if I set up the bluetooth connection as "phone only", it switches itself to "phone plus audio", sneaks into my iPhone, finds the iTunes files, and starts playing them in order - without firing up the phone's "Music" app. To get it to stop, I have to hit the "stop" (vertical bars) icon on the screen. I took it to the dealer and the "service advisors" are clueless. Others have reported the identical problem on the "Audio and Electronics" section here. Any suggestions how to proceed? I am thinking of finding some smart teenagers and turning them loose on it.

Simply deleting all the music on my iPhone probably would not work because I also have a ringtone stored on it, and that is filed in the iTunes section. And I certainly don't want to hear my ringtone every time I get into the car!

    Yeah, get off my "throne!!"

Regarding the iPhone hook-up, is anyone concerned or thought about privacy issues? I got into a Corolla rental car a few months ago, and I was playing with the touchscreen. I found a long list of personal names, phone numbers, and "home" addresses that the previous driver(s) had entered. If I can find it, so can the mechanics, service guys, car wash guys, etc. And Toyota probably has access to everything in your cell phone... Or am I just paranoid?

I think it would be wise to have to enter a password on that touchscreen, upon every start.

A bug and a trade off.

The bug is not establishing connection with the phone that owns the contact list, before allowing display and use.

Trade off is to retain the list for quick access or
Erase every time you disconnect, and then copy all the contacts each time you connect.

When starting the car, every time I press the power button, I would like to see a keypad pop up on the Entune touchscreen so I can enter a 4 digit password. Nobody should have access to that touchscreen but the owner.

Or, at the very least, when you press the App button for *phone*, I would like to see a password needing to be entered before proceeding. But I'm not even using the Bluetooth feature in my Prius; I'm not pairing my iPhone with Toyota. :ROFLMAO: And I refuse to talk or text while driving! These new cars have way too many damn distractions.

Spoken like a true "OG". ;)

    A Gen 4 facelift feature perhaps ?

    merged.

There was an option to delete all personal data on the Gen 3 and the Pruis+ (v), which I did when I traded in, and there is on the Gen 4.

Given the hatred on PriusChat (honestly, this is getting much more hate than the flying bridge!), I'm guessing Toyota will do it mid-cycle. The question is what will they replace it with? I'm fine with the contrast. Rather than focus on the negative (omg it looks like a toilet bowl!), I focus on the positive (it breaks up the monotony of the black interior which I prefer). I like the Prime's rear cupholder with the bone china trim because that's the only break in the rear interior. Everything else is black. At least on the Gen 2, the rear door window switch trim is satin or silver (depending on year) and on the Gen 3, it's silver or bronze (regular or Persona) on the door handle grip.

I got this far in reading your post before I realized that by "they" you meant "Toyota" rather than "the porcelain-haters on here". Given that this thread is about things people don't like, it's not too surprising that it became heated and focused on a single target. Although the fuel gauge and DTE are getting plenty of heat elsewhere in these forums.......

Personally, I liked the flying bridge in my Gen 3, particularly the storage tray underneath. (here we go, hang on!)
