Hi all, I have a 2016 Prius C Persona. I'm thinking of removing the green trim on the sides and under the headlights. Has anyone done this and know how difficult it is, or if there's a chance I'd damage the paint?

    Thanks.

I have been wanting to remove the accents under the headlights since I got mine as well.

I asked my nephew who works at an auto body shop and he said they are likely held on by double sided automotive tape. To remove you should be able to use a heat gun to weaken the bond of the tape and they should peel off. I'm not endorsing the idea, just telling you what he told me. Thus far I've been too chicken to attempt it since my wife will kick my nice person if I damage the car.

I noticed this today on my way home from work...

Not real happy about it but it does seem to show the tape clearly. It doesn't seem to be all that strong or durable unfortunately, although that is a good thing if you want to remove it all. I only wanted to remove the pieces under the headlights so I'm probably headed to the dealer to see what they are going to do to correct this.

Do you see a part number for those accents? I'm not a fan of the headlight parts, but I'm curious if they can fit a 2014 once repainted.

You could always just have them wrapped in vinyl.

I wouldn't know if there is a part number but vynil would probably be more durable from the looks of mine.

I pulled off all the trim today, and debadged the rear. The green, or pink, trim really does just pull off. If you heat it up a little bit first most of the tape will come off with the plastic trim. I didn't do that and now I have a lot of adhesive to scrape off. Unfortunately my fingers are too blistered to finish the project tonight. But it looks so much better debadged and detrimmed. Somehow removing the adhesive with a microfiber cloth created some very fine scratches in the paint, or clearcoat rather. I used a rubbing compound to get most of these out but might have to take a clay bar to it to finish the job. Only noticeable if you're really close to the car. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow, it's too dark here now to get anything decent. I'm happy I did it.

Edit: oh yeah, the only things not removable are the side view mirrors. I might try vinyl wrapping those.

Any suggestions on a good aftermarket rear view mirror?

Thanks! I just bought this baby, new, with 6 miles on her. My first Prius!

These were the easiest to remove. 99% of the adhesive came off with the plastic pieces.

Definitely interested in seeing some photos when you get a chance.

I assumed the rear view mirror was also just an applique, it looks like it is anyway.

The passenger side still has some adhesive residue, but unfortunately all of my fingers are blistered from trying to rub it off. I'm going to have the exterior detailed today. I'll see if they can get it off easier.

The rear was debadged. You can't tell from the pics, but there are still small scratches from where I rubbed off the adhesive. So be careful, even with a microfiber towel, it still happened. I've tried two applications of rubbing compound, but still there. Amy suggestions on that? (I'm not experienced with car care.)

If you don't like the trim why would you get the persona edition. Not being a smart nice person, I just don't know the specs of it and wonder what it has that makes it special. I thought the trim was supposed to be desirable.

It has black alloy wheels. It's basically a blacked out Prius C Two.

I like the accents except the ones below the headlights myself.

I get it. I personally like the pink persona. I just don't think my husband would be seen dead driving it.

It was new on the lot, manufacturers rebate... With my shitty credit, it was the only new hybrid vehicle I could get financed for.

I dig the black alloy wheels, and the other specs of the two are nice. I'd like to add a backup camera soon, tho. But first things first- dash cover and a good professional buff and wax :)

I doubt there are part numbers for the trim since it's a special edition.

I would assume there has to be. The part #s have to be in production for body shops.

The ABS pieces are for the doors. There weren't any other part numbers on those.
