Give them a review on Google, Yelp.

Even the better places can get sneaky. The repair place we still use, managed to shear the head off a small nut, just one example. I guess using one of those new fangled electric wrenches, didn't bother to remedy it. Just the devil we know.

Why would you pay out of your pocket for repairs caused by an accident that is not your fault? Maybe the laws are different in WA; but in Illinois, you can go to any auto repair place of your choice for accident work; l guess I don't understand your " out of network" comment. If you are not at fault and the other driver is and assuming the other driver has / had insurance, his insurance would reimburse your insurance and your only out of pocket expense should be your deductible to your own insurance company - or have I misread some information in your post??

The shop estimator insisted the unrepaired damage was simply a random event, unrelated to the collision. He said that "he sees this happen all the time." Old cars simply begin leaking. But I persuaded the insurance company that this was undiscovered damage, and they agreed to pay for the final repair. They kind of laughed at the idea that it was unrelated to the collision. If I had used a shop in the insurance company's "network" of approved shops, my insurance company would have handled any subsequent, related repairs. Instead, I had to depend on the shop's repair guaranty, which wasn't worth the paper...

Southbound, in your transaction the insurance payment has been assigned to the shop. There are two transactions. The insurance company settles with the insured. The owner of the vehicle is responsible for paying the shop for the repairs.

When I was sideswiped I filed the claim against the at fault driver's policy although we were covered by the same insurance company. I paid for the rental and was fully reimbursed. If I had claimed the rental on my policy I would have had to file a claim for the unpaid difference.

I also used the other policy for the bodywork as some of the VentureShield film had to be replaced. I received a check for the body work from the insurance company and gave the shop my check for the same amount. I paid the installer to replace the film, filed the claim and received a check from the insurance company.
