Buying a 2016 Prius base upgrade package- will remain a dream.

    Thanks to everyone for your help in answering my question on the 2016 Prius but like the title says buying a Prius will remain a dream. Due to unknown circumstances I can't afford the new Prius. I can't even afford a new Honda Civic EX-T without a $1-3,000 price adjustment or A second job for ages months to earn the money I need to get a new car that I want.

    I am still obsessed with owning a Prius so I'll be looking into a Prius that is 2-4years old. Any suggestion on what year, how many km, and model would be great!!

    I would suggest a '12 or newer. The '12 had a refresh that year.

    What really got refreshed tho? Maybe the EGR system. Other than that? They started painting the 15" alloys black I know.

    I thought the MPG increased to 50MPG for the 2012 model year.

    There doesn't seem to be a significant difference at Fuelly.

    I'd suspect the published fuel economy numbers stayed steady.

    2016, that's another story, harrumph.

    Yeah, I remember, and rue that. Our 2010 Touring has the "analog" instruments, no screen. Maybe I'm a luddite, but I think even that goes to far, prefer tactile manual controls. Case in point is being eastbound at the beginning of the Barnet, at night. I've lost track of the times, dropping down the hill into the cool marine air, then having the windows fogging on the curvy highway, taking my eyes of the road to visually locate the flushmount "Mode" button, then continue taking my eyes off the road, driving with one hand, and watching the LCD cycle through the modes, to get to Heat/Defog.

    With the Gen 2, you would've just press the front defroster button on the steering wheel. I miss that.

    On the Gen 4, there are no climate control buttons on the steering wheel. Thankfully, the temperature toggle is easy to find and use (and there are confirmation screens on the 4.2" TFT). But the front and rear defroster buttons are flush. They're a little better on the Prime because the buttons are located higher up but still flush.

    I REALLY miss the climate control on the steering wheel. I don't really like the huge switches for turning up and down the temp.

    package options are really your choice. try to stay under 100,000 km if you can afford to.

    For me the lack of a power seat on any trim in 2010-2011 was a factor in me looking for 2012 or newer. I have 2012 and I love it
