2016 Prius Lower Console/Shifter Appliqué Package

Does anyone have a dealer part number for the black console. According to my local dealer he said that Toyota does not make that in black and that it maybe a after market item.

You can probably find a part number on the box label, and or on the part themselves.

 

I bought the lower console and shifter appliques. Because I had bought my car through Costco, I got 50% off the price of accessories, so it was a good deal. What wasn't clear is that these are two separate orders. I got the console applique first. The dealer thought that the kit came with both pieces because they couldn't find the specs for the shifter, and there were two pieces in the package. But actually the two pieces were the console applique and another vertical piece that goes under the armrest. So I then had to order the shifter piece, which they finally figured out.

They installed the console piece but I installed the shifter applique myself, which was very simple. It looks SO much better than the white urinal.

The console piece came with one of those stupid yellow warning stickers, which one can't read anyway because it's facing towards the Qi charging pad but can still see. I managed to remove it but the nasty sticky residue was left. First I tried a solvent that is supposed to remove that sort of stuff, but just seemed to dissolve it and make it into an even stickier gooey mess. Then I resorted to a trick I had used before. Peanut butter! Spread peanut butter over the goo and then rub it off with a cloth. It really works. The goo clumps up with the peanut butter and comes off the plastic surface easily. Then clean off the surface with a damp cloth.

These warning labels are really annoying. The ones on the visors about the airbags are very intrusive and I am afraid to try and remove them.

 

I'm cool with the white urinal look. I save $300 green paper by not having the appliqué console and bumper. A$10 can of krypton should fix the white look. Regarding the urinal look. Don't listen to your stupid friend. He's a (Prius) hater. Ha

 

Time to drag out my picture again. Applied two coats of Meguiar's Ultimate Wax. Any spills or dirt comes right off.

Especially the part about unplugging the connectors and removing the cupholder section. That made it so much easier to handle. I completely removed it from the car and brought it indoors where I could work on a table with plenty of light.

1. I cleaned all the pieces with alcohol on a small cloth, then dried them
   
2. I attached the applique to the front face cover, then the main console
3. I rubbed them in place to make sure the stickies were firmly attached
4. I re-installed the main console piece with all the proper wires into the car
   
5. I re-installed the front face cover
6. I cleaned the shifter bezel and installed its applique

Looks much nicer! Though, I do wish that the console cover completely hid the white. I hope they also come up with something for the lower steering wheel.

 

2016 Prius Lower Console/Shifter Appliqué Package - OEM I want this but in white . Anyone know where I can get it. All I see is black out there .. I like the different look. Most people prefer black. My dash is already black . Any feeback will help. Thx

You are the FIRST person that's wants to change the black, to white. I like the white too... but I'm a crazy guy.

 

I like the white console and have gotten a few compliments on it.

Mark me down as another that once I saw it in person didn't think it was that bad and actually like the urinal now. It really does help break up my all black interior. Plus as stated I saved $300 in the process. Thanks Coast Cruiser for the wax tip, I will be sure to git er waxed up ASAP.

 

Even without any wax, spills wipe right up with a napkin. It's a good quality plastic, and it has a sparkle when the sun hits it just right.

It won't get "dirty", and it will hold up well... Unless a person is a total slob and leaves coffee stains and sticky orange juice spilled on there...

 

The Console keep poping out from the side where you put the phone in the console . I guess the 3 mm is too cheap. I will buy more 3mm. I can put some under without damage the other side which the 3mm did fine. I put a lot of thing on top to put some weight in the console . Until now nothing worked.

Toyota needs to stay away from white plastic interior trim parts. Upon seeing the 2017 Prius Prime steering wheel with the white insert, my wife said it looks like a monkey's face, with the two round controls on either side as the eyes. She doesn't care for the white part around the shifter, which is a still a lot less white plastic than the 2016 console, which to her was a no-sale based on that alone. I will be buying black or carbon-black trim components should they become available.
