Drove the wife's Prius 4 today , approx 60 miles journey and yesterday approx 80 miles. MID showed that I was averaging 62 MPG. Means anything ?

You did very good, as far as I can see...are you kidding 62? That's great!
My wife went about same today, showing 52 MPG.
Sheesh almost on empty as we only got 7.5 gals in the tank last fill from flashing pip (Gen2 flex tank)

Remember the mpg gauge is not accurate. If the gauge reads 62 mpg your actual mpg calculated, miles divided by gallons, will be lower, say by 2.5 - 4 mpg. 62 mpg you can safely say you did better than 58 mpg which is better than most road motorcycles.

You can get 70+ without too much work. 42 PSI, drive 55 MAX, stay in the right lane, accelerate slowly, slow down way before you stop. If traffic is not piled up behind you, you are driving too fast. Must experience one road rage or you are driving too fast.

Remember you have eggs under both feet.

Wow back in the days my father used to tell me , drive as if you are a chauffeur, imagine your passenger is drinking fine champagnes , stop slowly and move off slowly less movement he said. Haha

    Now you are on track.:)
The car gauge is accurate enough and much closer than previous models. Plus you don't need a pencil or pen. Just look at the gauge.
My opinion, is the gas pumps are 99% of the error which includes fill up errors and not getting the actual real true full gallon of gas for many reasons. Averaging errors is still errors and do not believe for minute that the gasoline food chain will give you more than you paid for. Like politicians telling the truth:LOL:

You're actually doing quite well with the 4. That's encouraging to me because we have the same packaging.
And do I recall correctly that you are a hybrid newbie?
I've owned a hybrid for 7 years (counting my old Insight) and I find the new Prius really easy to get incredible numbers.

I went on a little errand in town over to a mall and got 65+ mpg to and 72+ on the way back. It included some a/c use too.

I don't know if this old fart ( me) is imaging it or not , but yesterday I got the worse MPG thus far. Low 50s same trip same distance same traffic. Except heavy rain and I'm not sure if I changed to normal mode from Eco mode. I doubt the latter, perhaps the rain played a big part .
