    Fine PriusChat Folks -

My wife was in a minor fender bender the other day, and now I'm trying to figure out which direction to take on repairs. The hood is bent in by the driver-side headlight and the driver-side quarter panel is a bit mangled too. I''m pretty handy and enjoy fixing stuff myself, and I'm also cheap....so I'm wondering if replacing the Hood and DS Quarter Panel are something I can do in my driveway. Apologies is this is a noob question - if this is doable, and anyone has a great video, step by step, DIY guide or anything of the sort, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm considering MBI Auto via Amazon for their prepainted parts - are there better resources if I am able to do this myself?

    Cheers,

    Chris

Apologies - don't have pictures available at the moment - she's at work and I wasn't smart enough to take a picture right afterward. Will post pics first thing tomorrow.

In Googling this for a bit, the hood looks somewhat straightforward, while the quarter panel / fender looks a bit trickier...

I used MBI auto. The paint match was good. Fit and finish was fine, they were easy to deal with.

Hood easy driveway repair....bolt on and align.
Could even prep under and top side for paint.

Quarter your mention headlight. Do you mean front fender or wing?
    Really need pictures.
Fender could be easy based on inner structure damage.
Quarter panel I am not so sure...may take welding...not sure.

Biggest issue will be paint color and texture match if repairing in a driveway.

None the less there is always duct tape.

    Good luck.

    Folks -

Car is back, so I'm posting them now. It seems the front bumper somehow escaped damage, so it looks like I'm looking at replacing a hood, a driver side fender, and possibly a driver side headlight (although it still works....sorta).

Thanks for any thoughts you might have - really appreciate them!

    Cheers,

    Chris

Headlight mounting bracket should be broken. I recommend replacing hood, fender, and headlight.

Thanks - any thoughts on what I would be looking at in $ / time if I just took it to a body shop? Anyone had similar damage that would be willing to weigh in on what I'm working with here? Appreciate all the feedback :)

If you do the work to source used parts, you can do this pretty cheap. Best to find parts of the same color, painting is where most of the money is at. In California the used parts price would be estimated at

    used hood - $250
    used fender - $100
    used headlight - $100

The front end does look like it's pushed in, so you'll have to remove the bumper to see what other damage there is.

No collision insurance? Or it's just not worthwhile starting a claim? Up here, something like that, I'd just get our body shop on it and fork over the $500 deductible (highest/cheapest option when insuring). Premiums for the next two or three years might go up $20 per annum.

Nah, definitely have all the insurance, just trying to figure out my options before I decide on claiming / raising my rate. If I'm looking at maybe like 1K for them to do it, might just go that route....if it's way more, then we have some choices to make

It's way more than $1000 if done at a shop. Go get a free estimate and see what your options are

    Howdy,
What did you decide to do with the damage to the rear quarter panel?
    Thank you for your consideration,

Question was from 2016, and it wasn't the rear.
