400K and still goin'

    not that much of a fixer yet.......had to pay a toyota mechanic to do it .........I did just add a set of fog lights, the factory lights were blown and cracked, one was missing all the glass when i got the car a year ago ....
    put a set of 18w cree led driving lights.

    So here is the explanation from the dealer in regards to the inverter coolant pump recall. It is something they do if you have a complaint with the car. Under 150K or under 10 years. Otherwise they don't mention it if you don't. And they don't cover it after those two milestones. I was happy to get her back on the road.

    So here is the deal on XT1585 recall
    Toyota will fix your Inverter coolant pump for free as a service if.... Your car is under 150K and/ or under 10 years old. They will not ever mention it to you out of the blue. They will only fix it if you have a problem and meet those 2 criteria. They must figure that most of the units will last longer than the car. I had it fixed for $350... another 170 for coolant flush. I was out of town so I payed it gladly and I'm on my way.

    I've never figured out how to get a lifetime MPG but.....I steadily get 44 - 46 MPG from the first day I drove it to 460K

    wow you are not only conserving gaso but also the metal/plastic resources that go into making a new vehicle. That is one eco-Prii really conserving resources.

    I wish Toyota would give us more statistics on how many HV batteries are lasting this long.

    Perhaps we are being too pessimistic here since all we hear about is dead batts...living batts do not make the "news" here.

    These cars, compared to even regular cars, are relatively flawless. Toyota did an amazing job.

    this long? you mean 400,000 miles or 12 years?
    I have been saying here the prius battery lasts for about 12 years (depends on the climate a bit). Miles are not as important IMHO. Whether one does 40,000 miles or 400,000 miles during that time it's up to the owner.

    By CA. law, which was different when these cars were new, they had to make 150000 or 12 years I think, factory 50 state was 10 years 120,000. It has been a while since I got that information in training though. (2003 for new model gen II Prius)

    Prius batteries are warranted for 10 years or 150,000 miles in California-compliance states and eight years or 100,000 miles in non-California compliant states.*
    *Editor's Note: For 2001-2003 Prius models, hybrid batteries are warranted for eight years or 100,000 miles in California-compliance states.
